Zayra was to perform at The Orpheum in Tampa Florida. They were paying her to do six songs. They were having a launching party for one of Jeremy's artist whose album would be released in a couple of weeks. Zayra had helped write 4 of songs and sang vocals on two. Jeremy was in his element, introducing Zayra to everyone there.

Emily was used to these parties. She hardly went. She came because she wanted to see Zayra perform, she enjoyed it very much. Besides, they were in spring break so after the gig, they were going to the Florida keys.

Josh was getting recognition as well. Jeremy had bragged about their son's band. She was proud of him. She enjoyed listening to them play. She was amazed at some of the songs they played, thanks to Zayra, they were starting to reach their potential.

Zayra took a couple of drinks before sitting on the piano. She introduced herself to the band that would accompany her. Talked and laughed for a few minutes before the lights went down and the host introduced her.

"Hello everybody my name is Zayra. I want to thank Layla Bach for having me come out and perform for her. I would have done it for free but they have advised me against that." she heard the laughter. "Layla, congratulations on your upcoming album. I know it'll be a hit."

She began to play

Alicia Keys Secrets.

Lay your head on my pillow
Here you can be yourself
No one has to know what you are feeling
No one but me and you

I won't tell your secrets
Your secrets are safe with me
I will keep your secrets
Just think of me as the pages in your diary

I feel such a connection
Even when you're far away, mm
Ooh baby, if there is anything that you fear (anything)
Call 489-4608 and I'll be here

Zayra felt her heart squeeze as she played this song. She kept thinking about Roman and his secrets. Then her mind went to her secrets. They wanted to escape, be let out freed. She had almost told Nico but she couldn't. She wouldn't.

She continued to play all the songs Layla requested and got a standing ovation. She smiled at everyone thanked them and went to her table, where Roman sat next to Emily.

Fuck!

She excused herself to the restroom. He stood up to follow her but she was fast. There was a line to the restroom but no one told her anything when she went in before everyone. She apologized to the girl who was next in line and hid in the stall.

She put her hands on her face. She didn't expect him to be there. She thought about Jeremy and Emily. One of them must have known he would show up. How else would he be inside, it was a private party. She tried to compose herself. She knew he was relentless and would wait outside of the door until she came out.

She thought about staying inside the whole time but knew she was being ridiculous. She'd not only embarrass herself and Jeremy and his family.

Why did he have to show up now. Why couldn't it have been after the show or the next day. She counted to 100 then to 250 before deciding to find the courage and face the music. She figured that he'd probably ask Emily to get her out. She wouldn't want that to happen. It wasn't hers or anyone's business.

She washed her hands, looked at herself in the mirror. Smiled politely at the ladies who gave her praises on her performance before walking out.

He stood leaning on the wall, waiting for her. His face frowning, his jaw muscle tight. She noticed a few girls gawking at him but he paid no attention.
