"What?!" Becky shrieked. "How did it end up there?"
"Remember the time I was called to the principal's office?" Ashlyn asked and Becky nodded in response. "Well, I did went there but Levi was waiting for me instead. We got into an argument and he accidentally pulled my bag, causing all my books to fall. I thought I had picked up all of them but I guess the black binder must have slipped under the principal's desk or something." She said in one breath.
"What are we going to do?" Becky buried her face in her hands. "I need to submit it next week."
Ashlyn paced the hallway back and forth, trying to think of a solution. "We have to get it back before the principal finds it and sees your name on the binder."
"Oh my god, I'll be in so much trouble. He will think that I was the one who broke into the office!" Becky breathed at an abnormally rapid rate.
Ashlyn stopped pacing and faced her friend. "I'm not gonna let that happen, Becky. I promise you that I'll get it back."
"How?"
Ashlyn looked at Becky grimly. "Looks like I'm going to have to break into the principal's office."
"No, you can't! You'll get in so much trouble if you get caught." Becky frowned. "We'll just let the principal find the binder. He can't expelled both of us, right?" She asked, sounding unsure herself.
"This is my fault." No, actually its Levi's fault but Ashlyn rather bite off her own arm than to ask help from somebody who constantly makes her feel like crap. "I'm not dragging you into this."
"Then at least let me go with you."
Ashlyn shook her head. "If we do get caught, we would probably need to run. And you and I both know that you're not a very good runner."
"But when are you sneaking in? There are teachers who stays in school all night." Becky warned.
"Then I'll go tomorrow. The teachers won't be in school during weekends right?"
Becky looked at Ashlyn, her face filled with worry. "There's no way I can talk you out of it, can I?"
"I don't think so." She shrugged and tried to muster up a small smile to put Becky at ease even though she's secretly distressed inside. "I'm going to be okay. Don't even think about it. I promise you'll see your binder on Monday."
Becky remained silent for a while before finally sighing heavily. "Okay." She said, giving Ashlyn a hug. "Good luck."
"Ashlyn." Someone called out.
Ashlyn loosened herself from Becky's arms and turned around to see Jaime standing behind them.
"I guess I'll see you on Monday then." Becky said, waving her goodbye before leaving them reluctantly.
Ashlyn picked up Jaime's training bag from the floor and handed it to him. "Here. You left this in your class."
Instead of taking the bag from her, Jaime crossed his arms. "Did you just said you were going to sneak into the principal's office?"
Ashlyn groaned. "How long were you standing there?"
"Long enough to know your crazy plan apparently." His hands flew in frustration. "Please tell me I heard you wrongly."
"Don't bother stopping me, Jaime. You know I won't listen to you." Ashlyn pushed the bag into Jaime's hands. "Just take this and mind your own business okay."
