January 13
I drove to Bradford while Colby sat on my lap as we listened to the radio.
I had just dropped off Zayn at the airport. He and the boys were going to do charity work in Africa today and tomorrow and I couldn't be any more prouder of the boys. They've been so generous.
I remembered how nervous and scared Zayn was to leave.
* Flashback *
"Babe, I'm scared."
I laughed at how nervous Zayn looked as he wrapped his arms around my waist. The boys waited for him to the side to give us privacy.
"Why?" I laughed lightly.
"Don't make fun of me." He pouted.
"I'm not." I said. "Now why is my little bad boy scared?"
"Cause.." He looked down. "I've never been to Africa and I'm scared of what I might see. You know how sensitive I am to people suffering."
I frowned and placed my hands on either side of his face and pulled it up for him to look at me. "Zayn, that's why you're going. To help. I understand why you're nervous and scared but everything will be okay. It's just for two days and then you'll be back."
He sighed and nodded. "I want you to come with me."
I smiled lightly at how cute he was being. "I would if I could but I have to stay and take care of Colby. He can't be without both of his parents anymore."
Zayn understood and kissed my forehead. "Take good care of him, okay?"
I nodded. "I will."
Zayn gave me a sweet kiss on the lips. "And you be good while I'm gone."
"I don't know, I might go skydiving again." I teased.
Zayn grinned. "We have to go do that again."
I agreed. "We'll have to find some time for that."
Zayn kissed me one more time, longer and more passionate than the one before. "I love you."
"I love you, too. Be safe."
Zayn nodded and hugged me once more. "I will, I promise."
We both let go and then he started walking away with the boys.
"Bye Mickey!" They yelled.
I waved bye to them. "Bye boys! Take care!"
Zayn smiled nervously and I blew him a kiss before he left.

"Is it sad that I miss Zayn already?" I asked as I helped Trisha cook.
Trisha laughed as she stirred the soup. "No it's not, sweetheart. I know exactly how you feel. Every time he leaves, I break down as if he would leave forever."
I frowned and hugged her from the side. "I'm sorry you have to go through that."
Trisha sighed. "It's not something I'm used to, but it's his job that he goes to and he loves it and I can't stop him. I just want to see my son happy."
I smiled at how sweet she talked of her only son.
Trisha turned to the side to look at me. "Which is why I should thank you, Mackenzie. I've never seen Zayn so happy in his life and for that I have to thank you for being the person to make him happy and for loving him endlessly."
I smiled through the tears and fully hugged her. "You have nothing to thank me for. He's the one who makes me the happiest person alive and I have to thank you for having such a wonderful boy who I can't live without."
Trisha hugged me tight. "Both of you make each other happy." She sniffed, most likely crying, too. "I'm proud that he picked you as his soul mate." She let go to look at me again, tears in both of our eyes. "I'm lucky that he picked an amazing woman as you."
I pulled her into my arms once more and cried into her shoulder. She was more than Zayn's mom. She was like a mother to me. A mother that I had actually built a strong relationship with. I loved this woman not only for having Zayn but for being the woman who truly cares about me like my mother did. "Thank you so much."
After our emotional session, we called the girls and Zayn's dad for dinner. Along with a hungry Colby.

January 14
Trisha, Waliyha, Safaa, and I were at the mall shopping for some Welcome Home gifts for Zayn when he returned tomorrow.
Colby had stayed home with Doniya and Yaser (Zayn's dad).
I had already bought Zayn a camouflage jacket, jeans, new shoes, and snap backs.
Trisha bought him skate boards and a couple t-shirts while Waliyha got him bracelets.
Safaa was having trouble with what she wanted to get him. We've been roaming the mall, trying to get her an idea of what she wanted to get him. On the way, we stopped at the food court to get food.
While we ate, I received a call from Chris.
"Hey Chris." I greeted.
"Hey, Mick." He greeted back.
"What's up?" I asked him.
"I just wanted to let you know that we're starting your rehearsals next week on the twenty first in the private arena in LA."
"Really?!" I asked, excited.
He laughed at my excitement. He knew how long I've waited for tour to start. "Yep. And touring should start next month."
"Finally."
Chris laughed. "Alright, well I have to go pick up Ri, I'll talk to you soon."
"Alright, bye." I hung up.
"What is it, Mackenzie?" Trisha asked, worriedly.
I couldn't contain my excitement so I spilled it all out. "I'm starting tour rehearsals next week!!"
The girls and Trisha cheered as soon as the words escaped my mouth and waved their arms in the air, earning weird glances from the other people at the food court but they didn't care, something I loved about them.
"Can we go when your tour starts?" Safaa asked.
I grinned and pulled her onto my lap as she giggled. "Of course you can. In fact, I'll give you free tickets every time you come so you don't have to pay."
"Really?" Safaa asked again.
I nodded and kissed her cheek. "You guys are my family, I would never let you pay for going to my concerts."
In the corner of my eyes, I saw Trisha grin.
"So we can bring our cousins like Aroosa?" Waliyha asked this time.
"Of course." I nodded. "You can bring anyone you want."
The girls cheered while Trisha and I grinned.
-----------
The girls, Trisha, and I left the mall an hour later after Safaa decided to get Zayn a build-a-bear Husky.
We were all excited to see our Bradford boy tomorrow.
