When the band set up, Allie didn't know where to stand. "Just go whet you feel comfortable," Hunter told her.
"Backstage?"
Hunter looked at her and smiled. "Nice try, Allie." She looked into those twin pools of his eyes. They were the same ones she fell in love with when she saw him in TV. She still couldn't believe this was happening. "Allie?" Hunter woke her up from her day-dreaming.
"I'm sorry, what?"
He looked at her and half grinned. "You really need to pay attention," he laughed. Allie smiled as she walked to where she wanted her stool to be. Mr. Sherman set it down, and set one down across from her for Hunter.
"Thanks," Hunter and Allie said together.
Allie sat down on her stool as Mr. Sherman gave her a hand held microphone, while Hunter had his own. The lights in the gym dimmed, all but the spotlight, which was on Allie. She couldn't see Hunter next to her. The band started and when Allie's cue came, she couldn't think of the words. The band stopped, and Hunter came over to Allie.
"Hey, you alright?"
"Yeah, I just forgot the words."
"My bags were packed from the day I was born," Hunter helped her.
"Knew there was something I was living for," she finished.
"You got it Ready to try again?"
"I think so." They tried again and Allie got it right away.
