After the choir sang, Allie went out of the gym and called Hunter. "I can't do it, I just can't," she told him.
"What's wrong?" he asked, worried.
"Milly, she asked me if I was ready to fail. I need you here! I can't do this without you!"
"Allie, calm down. I can be there if you want me to."
"No, people would see you," she said, scared they would find out.
"I can disguise myself. When do you go on?"
"In a little while. A couple more acts."
"I'll be there," he told her and hung up without another word. Allie looked around and saw that nobody was there.
"Thank goodness," she sighed. Allie walked back into the gym and saw Gabby.
"What's wrong?" Gabby asked her. "You look sick."
"Just nervous," Allie replied.
"You'll do fine! With the light shining on you, you can't see the crowd."
"I can't see the crowd?" How would she know that Hunter would be there?
"Isn't that a good thing if you're nervous?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm just not sure where my parents will be sitting that night," she covered up.
"Ah, I see. Well, band is up next. Gotta get ready. Good luck!" Gabby gave her a smile and walked away.
Allie heard the front doors to the school open. "Hunter?" she asked herself. She walked out of the gym and saw a guy in running shoes, sport pants, a white t-shirt, sunglasses and a baseball cap walk in. He waved to her and she knew it was him.
