··Skylar··

When you're about to watch a movie or read a book that you know is about romance, you pretty much already know that there are gonna be cliche moments. Even a fanfic. Even when the author says that they hate cliche stuff and they write about harry styles falling in love with a nerd, no doubt there ARE gonna be cliche scenes.

But this is the real world here. Everyone has cliche moments right? Even the nerds. Cause nerds are attracted to other nerds right? Or not I mean ya never know.
But anyway, in my world there is no cliche.

Like yea there are moments but that's just me exaggerating stuff in my mind. Like pretending it was actually really cliche than it actually looked. Cause let's just be really clear here, I'm 16 and I haven't had a boyfriend. None. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

Does it bother me? I mean yes. But at the same time no. Cause really I've been just attracted to this narcissistic boy for like my whole life now. And have the feelings ever changed? Nope.

The boy has a girlfriend obviously but basically thinks of himself as perfect. Like the king of all the other kings that ever lived. He's perfect in academics and athletics. He has to be. It's like, he's required to have that. To be a perfectionist. Or maybe it's just me over exaggerating about how much I am deeply in love with him.

Okay yeah im exaggerating but he's still narcissistic and I really wish he'd break up with the girl my own best friend has loved. Calum loves her to bits. It sucks cause Calum and I love each other except only in a friendly way.

Anyway let's fast forward to the pop quiz that I pretty sure failed on, and watch when the cliche moments finally step into my life.

····

"Skylar?"

"Hm?"

"Can you do me a small favor?" Calum whispered to me.

"Mm depends." I smirked filling in the bubbles of the quiz that seemed quite easy. Calum groaned as my smile grew wider.

"Please?"

"I said depends so tell me."

"Can you talk to her for me please?"

"Who?" I raised an eyebrow. Calum was behind me so everytime he spoke it was a whisper in my ear and I was on the very edge of slapping him because of the way his breath was tickling my neck.

"You know who." he snapped making a few students glance up.

"Shush Calum." I laughed as he pinched me from behind.

"You know who Sky."

"Uh no still clueless."

"Your crushes girlfriend."

"Oh." I mumbled biting the inside of my lip too hard. Just the thought of him made my stomach twist. And the thought of his beautiful caked faced girlfriend made my stomach twist even more except in a sour way.

"Cal you do know they've been dating for like 3 months now." I sighed.

"Actually," I can hear the glint of excitement in his voice, "they broke up. AND I heard she broke up with him."

"So he must be heartbroken..." I trailed off balling my fists in anger. He didn't deserve a girl like her.

"Oh I heard he is." Calum chuckled as my frown grew deeper.

"So can you talk to Jenny for me? Please?"

"Calum she's gonna hurt your feelings."

"Well gee thanks for helping Sky."

"I'm serious Calum she broke up with a boy like Michael Clifford. Who does that?"

"Well maybe Michael was a dick." he snapped making me frown.

"Maybe Jenny likes someone else and cheated on Michael."

"Why the fuck would she do that!"

"Mr Hood and Ms. Reynolds!" Mrs. Anderson snapped making me freeze and glance up. All eyes were on Calum and me as Mrs. Anderson pointed to the door.

I sighed grabbing my bag and stomped out the door. Calum was being a real jerk. Isn't it obvious? We have no chance with them. None. But Calum is still the type of boy who just never gives up.

We stood in the hallway staring at each other as I crossed my arms and glared at him.

"I'll talk to Mikey if you talk to Jen."

I raised an eyebrow. Really?

"Please." he whispered.

"Fine." I snapped. Then turned on my heels running straight into...Michael Clifford.

"Oops, sorry." he mumbled. I glanced back at Calum who nodded at me to leave. He walked in front of Mikey as i hurried to the office.

··Calum··

"Michael." I nodded at him as his eyebrows crinkled in confusion.

"Do I know you?"

I sighed, "No...well I don't know but listen here mate, I just want you to know something very important."

"What is it?"

"You see that girl that just passed us? You have to admit she's hot, right?"

"I guess?" he shrugged.

"What's her name?" I challenged him.

"Skylar...it's Skylar, cute name."

"She's had a crush on you for years mate and you were too blind to see it."

I didn't mean for it to slip but I knew the minute I did, he would open his eyes. And now, all I had to do is sit back and watch him fall.

···

"Did you do it?" Skylar tapped me as I rolled my eyes.

"Yes! Did you?"

"N-no."

My mood dropped.

"Oh."

"I'm sorry Calum."

"Sure you are." I turned on my heels and walked away.

··Skylar··

So yeah I was a bitch. But this is also the part where the random cliché moment(s) comes in.
At this point I became very selfish and practically used Calum and started, slowly, piece by piece, throwing him away.

"Hey wait up!"

I turned to see the gorgeous face of the one and only Michael Clifford. He stepped closer to me making my eyes flutter in surprise. He was quite intimidating but had a sweet personality.

"Hi..." I whispered.

"Can I ask you something?" he smiled holding out a small rose.

"Sure."

"Can you polish my shoes..?"

"What?" I stood in shock. He smirked and held up perfectly polished dress shoes.

"Or would you like me to take you on a date in these new perfectly polished shoes?"

I grinned playing along, "I'll do both."

"Great!" his smile widened as he turned on his heel shooting me a wave. Jenny passed me with a frown as I grabbed her arm and yanked her in front of me.

"Hey, can you do me favor and go talk to Calum Hood for me please? And don't act dumb cause you and I both clearly know you had a huge crush on him in grade 6 now go."
