"Miss Sparks, can you come up and solve number ten for me?" I looked up a bit startled then nodded slowly. At least it was Friday. And we had a long weekend, no school on Monday because Labour Day but I like to think that there is no school because it's my birthday.

Like bow down bitches you get a day off because of my existence.

Whatever let's just go solve that dumb math problem and I won't have to worry about getting randomly called on for the rest of the class period.

-5x + 8 (x-1) = -8x + 3x

Seems fairly easy. I had to solve for x. I wasn't a big fan of Algebra but it was tolerable. Well since school had just begun things were easy, just reviewing. I was just waiting until the lessons got harder and my sleepless days were approaching.

The day ended quite quickly and I found myself entering a quite chaotic house as usual. My mom was yelling, two sisters screaming and fighting, the food that was cooking was burning my eyes slightly, my pet parakeets were chirping quite loudly and my dad was home today? Strange.

Well other then my dad being home, everything else was normal. I stayed a few minutes just standing in my garage bracing myself for the screams to fill my ears. I sighed. My brother stood behind me patiently, silently. As if we both were thinking the same thing.

We stepped into the house and as expected, we were greeted with the chaos I had explained. I set my book bag down and slipped my shoes off.

"Hey mom." I covered up a sigh and smiled at her as my brother stormed upstairs with a blunt greeting to my mom. My mom replied with various complains of how my stubborn sisters behaved and the aches and pains she had throughout the day.

The usual.

Saturday. We attended a party which and randomly someone brought a cake for no reason and then it resulted in me cutting the cake because a relative figured out it was my birthday.

It was ice cream, vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles yum.

Sunday we went out to do shopping and I met my childhood best friend who is no longer my best friend but has turned into a crush but we all know he too good for me and that aint ever gonna happen.

·····......·····......

Monday was my birthday. I woke up early, which happened on every birthday of mine. It was always just a sense of excitement. Like yes, today is MY day. I don't care if the world doesn't stop for me I don't care that no one cares that I was born on this day all I wanted was one fucking day of happiness and not thinking about messed up shit.

But as usual my birthdays arent always the best and this one was just a boring one anyway. I was turning 14. So what? Nobody cares.

Or so I thought.

I walked downstairs after changing into something cute, to find the whole house empty. Not a single member of my family in sight.

Haha. Who am I kidding? That was just as I thought. But I didnt let that bring my down. Everyone forgets peoples birthdays. Not because they don't just that it doesnt run through their mind as much as it does in your own because hell, it ain't there day it's yours. And your day is always important to you.

Well enough about me ranting about birthdays thats just stupid.

I walked over to my kitchen and noticed a note on the counter.

Happy birthday nicki (: sorry for not being here your dad and I had to run for work.

xx mom
