"Bored?" A tall boy with jet black hair plopped down on the couch next to me while handing me a drink. He had piercings all around his face and tattoos running up and down his arms. Not too judge, but I wasn't into his type. I was simply lied too and brought to this place that was everything but me.

I enjoyed partying, but I preferred coke cans laying around instead of...alcoholic beverages. Many people had fun but others just made poor desicions and I was a simple girl wearing a simple dress. As a matter of fact, I was beginning to actually sweat.

"Sure." I shrugged and fiddled with my phone while staring at the drink trying to smell it without looking ridiculous. I didn't know where to put it, so I was stuck carrying it everywhere.

"I figured the innocent girl was gonna be the sober one, so I found some Pepsi. Wanna dance?" He questioned. I finally looked him in the eye and a dimpled smile adorned his face.

"No thanks. I can't dance." I mumbled shyly while tracing patterns on my phone. I sipped the cold liquid. He inched closer and placed his palm on top of mine. I felt my body stiffen for a moment.

It's okay, Ash. He's just being nice.

I downed the drink with bravery. I wasn't that innocent.

"Come on! I'll show you." He tugged on my hand and stood up with a huge grin. "Just sway to the beat. You don't have to try too hard." He grabbed my other hand and pulled me up in one swift motion. I clutched my phone tighter and hesitantly took a few steps. I couldn't refuse anymore because he was already dragging me to the middle.

"I'm Jeremy, by the way." He winked as he turned around and started moving his feet around me with a little bounce.

"Ashlynn." I answered half heartedly. When he noticed I wasn't moving, he grabbed my hands and began swaying them slightly with a small chuckle.

"So Ashlynn, you seem like quite the social butterfly eh?" He winked again making me blush and look away.

"Very funny." I rolled my eyes as I found myself stepping to the beat of some song I hadn't heard before. He laughed and lifted my arm above my head to give me a twirl.

"What's your new years resolution?"

"Seriously? People still do those? I mean no one even commits to those. They just say them in thin air, then forget." I laughed as I began to get more comfortable in the crowd. Jeremy nodded in agreement. He let go of one of my hands then placed it on my waist. A small gasp escaped my lips as the distance between was much closer than before.

"Damn, have you never danced with a boy before?" Jeremy chuckled and finally placed his other hand on my hip. For a moment I stood there awkwardly, trying to figure out where to put my hands. "Your arms go around my neck." He whispered then pulled me closer. I nodded then did as he told. The song wasn't slow, but it seemed as if the world was passing in slow motion. Only 2 hours before midnight. Before the the series of months start all over again and people begin with what they call, 'a fresh start'. To me, it was simply a thing that human's made up. But I celebrated it anyway, only to fit in.

I looked up into Jeremy's chocolate brown eyes that bore into mine, slowly trailing low to my lips. He had naturally curly hair with a faded haircut on the sides. First step to being a fuckboy. That was when it struck me when his thumbs started running my hips lightly in circles. This boy was acting nice just to get me in bed tonight. His teeth grazed his lips with a small smirk.

Suddenly, I pulled away taking a good 5 steps back. He stared at me surprised.

"What's wrong, gorgeous?" Confusion was laced in his voice as he took a step closer once again. I cringed at the name. That was another thing, I never enjoyed pet names. I preferred my whole name only. I guess I was just a picky girl. Not to be a party pooper but I was very reserved when it came to social gatherings in junior high. I vowed to change in high school, which I did of course but I realized that I will always remain that simple girl my parents raised me to be. Sure I'll be a virgin till marriage and boys won't approach me, except for Jeremy...But I liked being me.
