it was may. a very, very hot weekend and i was starving. it was probably 2 in the morning and my head hurt but i couldn't stop. not yet. i pushed myself further until i felt my eyes droop and the car swerve to the side. i pressed on the break and took an exit, parking in a Mcdonalds parking lot.

what a day.

lets start with this morning where i thought would be like any normal day. school. soccer. homework. eat. sleep. but fate decided to take another route.

"luke! michael is here!"

"okay!" i yelled then grabbed my bag and ran out before mum can give me any more chores. i decided to take a muffin with me. i jogged over to the car and slipped in, just like any other day.

"hey."

"whatsup?" i murmured throwing my bag in the back and putting my seatbelt on.

"nothing much." michael mumbled then turned around to reverse the car off the driveway.

"alright then." i shrugged and turned the radio up. the car ride was silent but not awkward. i finished my muffin within minutes and noticed something was off the minute we pulled into the school parking lot.

no one was here.

"is today like a late start?" i trailed off.

"did we have today off?" michael added onto my thought process. it's thursday, may 14. nothing seemed off about this day.

"it's the middle of the week why would school close?"

"maybe something happened?" i whispered and unbuckled my seatbelt.

"OR maybe we just both missed the school call last night?"

"why don't we just ask the guys?" i suggested. michael nodded and i dialed everyones number but no one picked up. i called the school, i called my parents and michael's. no one picked up.

"this is wierd."

"let's just go home and see if our parents are okay." michael muttered pressing the key in the ignition again.

"wait." i whispered and fixed my eyes on some movement in the building.

"the janitors are probably in there lets just ask them."

"no, who cares luke you don't even like school anyway."

"but this is all so wierd." i opened the car door and began walking towards the building. michael was hot on my heels.

"luke get in the car!" michael fumed but i resisted. i noticed more movement. i stopped as michael tugged on my arm roughly. i faced him.

"you can leave michael. i don't have anything to do today either and im pretty sure mum and dad are far in the city by now at work. mostly why they usually don't pick up." i shrugged then walked further.

"you're an idiot luke." michael glared at him then entered his car again. "if i were you, i would come to my house and just hang and play fifa all the day while eating random snacks. i have no clue why no one is answering but im just gonna go to calums."

"whatever buddy." i waved him off and he sped away. i continued walking then realised that the doors could be locked. i stopped then tugged on the handle that opened instantly, inviting me into the large building.
