"Hey babe."

I watched him from across the street. Plaid shirt with hoodie and jeans. Blonde. Red lips etched into a wide smile as always as he wrapped his arms around the girl. The girl who wasn't me. The girl who I wish was me.

The girl giggled throwing her arms around him. I squinted my eyes as her tall figure turned into me. I was almost a head shorter than her. I saw myself burying my nose in his neck and smelling his colon. I was snapped back into reality when he yelled at me.

"Heyy Rena!" Michael yelled I'm greeting from across the street. My name sounded so good from his lips. I even heard the touch of the aussie accent he still had. I knew he always will.

"Hi Michael." I whispered then turned and ran inside once the beautiful girl glanced at me with curiosity. I heard her voice though as I neared the garage.

"Who's that?"

"Oh just nobody."

I was a nobody to Michael Clifford.

...............................

Freshman year that was. 3 years later Jenna Hood was still there, hadn't left Michael Clifford's side. And I, as always, walked out of my house everyday and watched them from the very beginning. I saw him ask her out on his front lawn after a date, I watched him take her to all the homecomings, I watched them drive off to school. Hand in hand.

Senior year. Today was the first day. In the summer I had myself convinced that I was finally over the boy but my heart told me otherwise. I walked out of my house and a brunette Michael walked out of his house. He was in his new school uniform. Wow...he looked even better with darker hair. Michael glanced over and waved. I began to quickly sit in my car until he strolled over.

"How's it going Hemmings?" Michael chuckled. I quickly looked behind me to make sure my brother Luke wasn't behind me. The two hated each other. Everyone knew. It was as if they wanted to kill each other. Michael laughed at my actions.

"Don't worry. I'm referring to you, Rena. I'm sure Luke is still fixing his lame hair." His aussie accent still thick and attractive. I ignored his insult to Luke and forced a smile.

"Uh...yeah hey." I spoke awkwardly.

"You excited for senior year? Hey! What college you thinking of attending next year?"

"I don't know...probably a community college you know." I barely spoke without stuttering and thanked god for helping me.

"Oh same here actually, somewhere near you know."

"Yeah..." I half laughed and smoothed out my hair nervously.

"Mikeyyy!" Jenna Hood jogged over. She smiled and peck Michael's jaw and immediately Michael's face lit up.

"Catch you later eh?" Michael smiled and turned away before I could even reply. I sighed and sat in my car turning the car on.

Last year, then everything will be over.

...........................................

It was college when things started to take a weird spin. First of all, we ended up going to the same college and Jenna was with Michael more often even if she went to a better college. But as weeks passed by I noticed him get paler...and paler, the two bracelets on his wrists turned to multiple, his hair got darker, leather jackets appeared, black ripped jeans.

I noticed something else though, Jenna turned the same as him. Soon enough I saw him one day, girlfriend on his lap, both were smoking. I mean I had no problem with it, just that he seemed sadder. And instead of Jenna bringing him up it seemed as if he was losing himself. He started to barely show up to college anymore. And soon he was gone for a good two weeks.
