"Good morning."
"Good morning." the class mumbled in reply.
"Come on! It's Friday guys cheer up! There's a game today."
That statement lightened the spirits of most of everyones moods. Except for Hadley. She gazed across the room quite lost but she looked for the reactions on other girls' faces who weren't nobodies but weren't exactly popular either. They were smiling and nodding along so Hadley hesitantly did the same.
I'm not even going.
Was her immediate thought. But her gaze soon drifted over to a boy she had liked since the eighth grade. He was smiling and making small talk with another jock about tonight's game. They were surely going to win. Their last game was a big win of 28-0.
He was grinning and Hadley couldn't help but take in his soft features for the first time in awhile. She avoided him most of the time because he had already figured out she stared. But today, his jaw looked sharper, his raven hair looked extra styled today and his skin as soft as his smile. Plus that one cute mole on his cheek.
Calum Hood.
Before she could turn her head away, he had caught her. He began to stare back with the same unreadable expression every time. It annoyed Hadley. Why wasn't he like the other jocks? Why couldn't he pretend he didn't see her or just throw her a wink and mutter some nasty rude comment like, 'like what you see'.
But no. He continued to look until she gave away again and broke off the eye contact. It always ended this way. She glanced up once more to notice he did the same then she looked away again.
3 years.
3 years this eye contact battle went on for. Once Calum had even texted her but he was more blunt than Hadley's older brother. So she gave up. And the staring contest continued.
I got better things to worry about like going home and being treated like shit again...
Hadley thought then sighed. She wanted to escape. Somehow. Just one day. So she wouldn't have to deal with the insults her mom threw at her and the fact that her younger sisters hated her. Maybe a football game didn't seem so bad...
Hadley then made up her mind. She'll go to the dumb game.
Little did she know, that this one night, would be one eventful night.

Hadley decided to go with a friend. Yes, she wasn't some antisocial nerd who barely spoke. She had a few close friends. But you know, there was always that one person whom you know they would do anything to help you with.
"Wanna go to the game tonight?" Hadley spoke to her friend over the phone.
"Really?" she can sense her friend's excitement right away the minute her tone got higher.
"Yeah," Hadley laughed, "just you know, a little fun won't do much harm to my grades right?"
"Hadley, it's a damn football game not a frat house."
Hadley chuckled at her friend's comment then murmured a 'see you soon' hanging up. Now. What should she wear? It was still a pretty warm September right now so she settled on comfortable grey leggings and the school team sweatshirt over a black tank top.
