When I arrived in some old place in the middle of somewhere in Michigan, I was unhappy. We moved here from the city and the quietness bothered me. No streetlights or cars honking or driving by. It was silent as if we had downgraded our house when really we were financially okay. When I walked into the average looking house my little twin brothers were already fighting for which room they wanted. The good thing was, at least there was one for each of us.

"Just pick a room goddammit!" I yelled irritably and my dad shot me a glare. I wasn't in the best mood because of achingly, leaking vagina. The first and second day always sucked. I wish I could just curl up and sleep all day. Hopefully, my bed was already in my room. I had already claimed the last and second largest room from before we came here which was nice. So once I found it, I closed the door and locked it and layed on flat on the ground while throwing my bag to the side. A long journey of 14 hours of driving can be so tiring especially when you're crammed into a small SUV.

After a while of just laying there, I decided to get up and look around. There were two large windows and a walk-in closet. I open the door and turned the dim light on and peered in. I could fit my whole wardrobe in here that's how big it was. The walls were a bit dirty but then when I got closer towards the end, I noticed a small...latch.

"Precious! Get down here and help me prepare dinner!" My mom called.

"I'm coming!" I yelled back but I chose to get closer to the latch. It was small and golden, almost barely noticeable. I was about to touch it when my dad walked in.

"Hey cupcake, you like your new room?" He chuckled as he set a few boxes down. But as usual, he didn't let me answer. "Here's your stuff. And I found your cell phone charger. Also, your mother is calling you how long are you gonna keep her waiting? Go!" He laughed and I nodded then ran down the wooden stairs.

Guess the latch was going to have to wait.

.....

When I arrived back in my room, I completely forgot about the latch and began unpacking my boxes. It was around 11 pm when my best friend, Ashton Irwin called.

"Hello?"

"How's the new house?"

"Horrible."

"Come on, it can't be that bad." he laughed and I looked down and smiled. Ash never failed to make me smile. It was just the attachment we shared even though we weren't neighbors anymore.

"You're right, it's the worst thing ever."

"You'll get used to it. See when I moved in, I was just fine because of you."

"That's different cause you had me, and everyone loves my presence," I smirked and I could just imagine Ashton rolling his large hazel eyes.

"Yeah well, tell me when you're coming to visit, it feels like you've been gone for years." he sighed and I looked down sadly while picking up the small collage he had created for me. Before I had left, he had merged all the pictures of him, my friends and I all in one collage and it was the best gift ever.
