In which 4 boys disappear and 2 curious girls venture out to look for them.
.........
I woke up startled to the sound of a loud sound on my roof. I immediately grabbed a baseball bat and opened my window peeking. I stared out and held my bat up as soon as I heard shuffling around.
"Hey Zara!" I screamed dropping my bat and stared at the girl who hung upside down from my roof and had yelled my name. I sighed in relief seeing it was my best friend, Vic. "What the hell are you doing Vic?" I picked my bat up from off the ground. Vic grinned widely as she jumped.
"We're being detectives tonight."
"What are we 9? You know eventually you gotta stop this, this never works and your dad always ends up finding you anyway."
"No I swear. I have more evidence this time and it's going to lead us right to them."
"To who?" I yawned and pulled my robe close to my chest.
"The lost boys duh. Do you not watch the news?"
"Of course not. I'm not the one crime obsessed because my dad's a sheriff." I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"Come on Z, please can you come? I promise something will happen."
"Please don't make promises, you're gonna end up breaking them."
"Not this one." Vic fought back.
We stared at each other for a good 20 seconds until i sighed deeply. She jumped 10 feet in the air silently pumping her fist in the air as if she had won the Olympics.
"God, why am I friends with you." I rolled my eyes and ran back to get changed. Before I could even step back out, I heard the crunching of leaves as she dashed out into the woods. I froze. "Oh god." I sighed and jumped the window running after her.
"Alright, what's the evidence?" I gasped for air once I caught up to her. Vic slowed her walk as she continued walking further out into the woods.
"Oh shit, duck!" She yanked my shoulder as I winced and fell in the dirt and leaves. I spotted flashlights as footsteps jogged past us.
"Alright guys, all clear let's close down for the night."
More footsteps. Silence.
I sighed and stood up brushing myself off. Vic was already ahead of me as she crept on deeper in the woods. I shined my flashlight on the path we were headed. We continued on as Vic refused to speak, she only flashed her flashlight around and continued in one, straight, path.
"Vic...come on. We're literally almost at the end of the woods now." I sighed and sat down catching my breath.
"Come on Zara."
I groaned and followed her up a hill. We climbed higher and I began to get worried.
"Vic..." I trailed off. But she only quickened her pace.
"Hush, we're almost there." and before I knew it we were running. We were way past the area since we had jumped multiple fences by now. I was beginning to have my doubts and getting a little scared. My mind was racing faster than my feet. The branches were scraping my arms and legs. I had almost lost sight of Vic's converse shoes. And then we stood, at the top of the hill. But there was nothing but forest until...Vic moved more branches to the side. A bright light shone through. I gasped as I looked out into the open.
There was a beautiful sunrise and white puffy clouds. As I squinted down through the clouds there was sparkling water, a striking shade of blue. Were we in heaven? Or had we reached another world? Was this lost land? The underworld? What was this place? How come no one had found this place before? How did Vic find this place?
