4 Years Old
"Tuna? Where are you?" A small child was searching every nook and cranny for her lost kitten. As time passed, tears started to swell up in her cat-like (eye color) eyes and threatened to fall. Just as she was about to head home, a hand tapped her shoulder, making her turn in surprise.
"Is he yours?" Two boys stood behind her; one with a messy hairdo of black hair and sharp golden eyes and one with longer black with amber eyes hiding behind the previous boy. The one with the bed head held a grey Siberian kitten in his hand.
The girl eagerly grabbed Tuna and held him to her chest, embracing the kitten. "Thank you for bringing Tuna back...." Her sentence drawled out when she didn't know the boys' names. The second boy stepped a bit more out into her view, but he wouldn't look her in the eye.
"I'm Kozume Kenma.... He's Kuroo Tetsuro..." Kenma introduced himself and his friend with a quiet and shy voice. The girl smiled sweetly, setting her cat onto the ground and then bowing in respect.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kozume-san, Kuroo-san. I'm (Full Name)." She introduced herself politely, returning back to her regular posture.
"Drop the honorifics, I have a feeling we'll be good friends."
16 Years Old
It had been twelve years since the three children had met, and Kuroo's words were true, with all of them becoming the best of friends. It took a while for Kenma to grow adjusted to her presence, but their relationship soon grew close as if they were brother and sister, Kuroo was also like a brother to her, but she had feelings that yearned for a romantic relationship with him.
(Name) harboured her feelings, the only one knowing was her other best friend, Kenma. It was another day at volleyball practice, she was the manager, Kuroo and Kenma were two of the players on the team; the captain and the team's setter. Unlike other days, Kuroo was late to practice, which was a very rare occasion.
"(Name)-chan, look for Kuroo, he needs to be here today for the practice match against Karasuno." Nekomata told (Name), not taking his eyes off the team practice three on three. She nodded her head politely, setting her clipboard down and heading off to find her friend.
Almost all the hallways seemed empty, with the occasional student and/or teacher staying after school. Just as she was about to give up hope, (Name) passed a hallway where she spotted Kuroo..... with (mean girl's name). She could see their lips moving, but she couldn't tell what they were saying, but she could tell what the situation was.
Silently, she turned on her heel and walked back to the gym. (Name) told that she couldn't find Kuroo, but a certain setter knew she was lying. Soon after, Kuroo walked into the gym, with his usual Cheshire smile on his face when he went to greet her, she brushed him off, not even casting the male a glance.
Sighing, he stood in his usual position besides Kenma. "What's wrong with (Nickname)?" The 'blonde' shook his head and shrugged in response, tossing the ball over to Kuroo.
After practice, Kenma walked over to (Name) and looked her in the eyes, meaning that he was being serious about the situation. The lookin in his amber eyes were questioning her and she sighed, knowing how to answer his question.
"I never had a chance." One sentence. Five words. Sixteen words was all it took for the tears that she had been holding back to run down her cheeks. Kenma frowned, wriping the tears away and hugging her close, trying to comfort her as best as he could.
