Hello fellow readers, I'm terribly sorry for the long wait for the next one-shot. Right then, this one is dedicated to @AbbieVanityCakes.
The Anteiku Cafe could still hear Kaneki's cries of shame and disappointment. Kaneki had locked himself in one of the rooms of the cafe, leaving the others to worry about them.
Touka was reluctant to admit it, but she was worried about the well-being of her friend. She turned her attention towards me.
"(Name), you're the most experienced in this type of thing. Go talk to him, please." I was a half-ghoul, just like Kaneki. The only difference was I was born like this.
My mother met a my father, who was a ghoul, and they fell in love. They had me, when I first opened my eyes they were normal (eye color) eyes, then I blinked revealing one kakugan. I lived most of my life normally as a human, until my eighteenth birthday, my freshman year in college.
The food I would usually eat tasted foul and bitter, making me sick of the new taste. I had found the cafe, meeting new friends and other ghouls.
I nod, getting up from my seat. I walked inside the employees' lounges and stopped at a door from where I heard small sobs.
I gingerly knocked the door. "Kaneki? I know you're in there." I could hear it quiet down.
"Please leave me alone, (Name)-kun." I sighed, stepping back and reaching for my hair clip. Quickly, I pick the door open, surprising the ravenette inside the room.
He was in the farthest corner of the room, almost as if he knew if someone would eventually open the door. I close the door and walk over to him and sit next to him. Kaneki had his knees up to his chest, and raised his head to look at me.
I sat in the same position as he did. Kaneki stared at me with shocked black eyes. I could see the red scratches on his left eye, making me raise an eyebrow.
He covered it with his hand. "It's nothing." I could hear him murmur to me. I take his hand away from his eye and look at it.
I close both of my eyes and think of something that made me sad. I opened my eyes again, only to have my kakugen appear on my right eye.
"(N-name)-chan? What are yo-" Kaneki blinked and his kakugen appeared. I stared at him, I didn't feel sorry for him or pity him. I wanted to comfort him. I wanted to make him feel safe, and I don't know why.
I close my eyes again and set my forehead on his, making him tense. Kaneki felt warm, he hadn't felt this way since the incident. He slowly wrapped his arms around me and just let the tears flow freely.
I hesitantly embrace him, patting his soft black hair.
"Why is it so hard, (Name)?" It surprised me that he used my name without honorifics. I played with his dark locks.
"I don't know, Kaneki. It just happens, you and I had no decision to choose our fate. To become a ghoul and change your lifestyle." I sighed, closing my eyes tightly.
"No," His embrace turns tighter, making my face flush into a crimson hue. "I refuse to believe that. Maybe it led us to meeting each other."
"That it could change the people's point of view of ghouls and others like us! Sure, not all ghouls are good, like Anteiku and you," Kaneki shyly mumbles that last part. "but it shows that ghouls are capable of not injuring citizens and showing emotion and weakness."
"I don't know about that, Kaneki. Maybe it was just a coincidence and-" He suddenly grasped my hands in he looked at me straight in the eye.
"No. We somehow met, and I know it's not possible for a boy like me to suddenly get in an accident, turning me into a ghoul." His face got closer towards mine, still not breaking eye contact. Kaneki's black eyes stared into my (eye color) orbs.
One hand still held mine as his other hand held my cheek. "Fate, destiny, call it what you want, but all I know for sure is," His lips brushed against mine. "my future is with you." There was a pressure on my lips, already knowing that Kaneki was kissing me.
I would usually have slapped the guy who tries to even come close to kissing me. I didn't push Kaneki away from me, I kissed him back, and it felt like it was something from out of a fairy tale. The kiss was slow and extremely gentle, but still full of passion and love.
We both pulled apart due to the lack of air. Kaneki's blush was far darker than my crimson cheeks, making me giggle and kiss his nose. He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
"(Name), is Kaneki feeling-" Touka and Nishiki walk inside. Touka looked very amused while Nishiki smirks evilly.
"My, my, (Name)-chan~ I didn't know you like Kaneki that much." I glared at Nishiki with dark cheeks while Kaneki tripped over his words, trying to explain the situation.
"I just want to unsee what I just witnessed." Touka mumbles, rubbing her head. I blew strands of hair out of my eyes while Kaneki was trying to cover his face.
"Well then, let's get to work." Nishiki and Touka walked outside. I stood up and helped Kaneki up. There was a silence around us, but it wasn't awkward, it was a comfortable one.
We walked out of the room, holding each other's hands. "(Name)-chan," My head turned towards him, where he stood with a flustered expression. "I love you." Kaneki pecked my cheek.
I smiled at him. "I love you too, Kaneki. Besides~ When did you get so courageous and bold to confess like that?" I teased Kaneki. His cheeks gained a red hue, making me giggle at his expression.
He rubbed a thumb over my hand, smiling and shrugging shyly. Maybe it was fate or destiny that brought us together.
