You are a student at University of Ontario Institute of Technology and a student of Criminology. You have been dreaming of attending UOIT for so long and put every effort you could in making your dreams come true.

Now, in your third year, at the age of 21, nearly 22, all of your friends turned against you for, to you, completely unknown reason. The last thing you heard from one of your friends was "You are not cool enough to hang out with us. All you do is stick your nose into boring study books."
That was a lame excuse, but even the lamest excuse can be good if someone wants to get rid of you and they succeeded. It took a while for you to get over that betrayal, especially since you considered one of the girls for your best friend. And she was the one who told you that you were not cool enough to hang out with them. Strangely enough, as it became clear much later, you were cool enough to start hanging out with UOIT's hockey team. With that of course came the curse of being called a whore, slut, puck bunny,..., but you never bothered to pay attention to them nor did the players. One of them who you really got along was no one else than Andrew Shaw's younger brother Jason.

In July, few months after your 22nd birthday, Jason comes to your room, huge smile on his lips.

"Sure, burst in, I don't know why doors are for in this dorm."

"Aren't you just a ray of sunshine?" he smirks and plops down on your bed next to you. You close your book with a deep sigh and look at your goofy friend: "What, Jason?"
"Well, I was thinking, since you are my best friend and nearly my sister... my brother is turning 24 and we are going to celebrate in Chicago since he can't take much time off. So, would you like to join me? I mean us?

"You are asking me to join you on your trip to Chicago and spend your brother's birthday with you?" you sit up on bed, all of your attention on him. Smiling, he nods his head: "If you want to join us, that would be awesome."

On a warm summer evening, Jason and you board on a plane to Chicago. You have never travelled by plane before and it's super exciting for you. Jason lets you sit by the window even though he has told you that is his favorite place to sit on the plane. As the plane takes off, he takes your hand in his when he sees how nervous you become: "Is this normal?"
"Yes, Y/N, everything's fine. Relax. I promise, everything is fine."

And he was right, after the take off you start enjoying the flight, which becomes bumpy again when you fly over Illinois.

"Dear passengers, we have encountered slight turbulence and we will land in Chicago soon. I would like to kindly ask you to fasten your seat belt."

Minutes later the plane touches the ground and you finally exhale.

"See, it wasn't that bad. It was a calm flight."

"You call that a calm flight?"

"Well, maybe it wasn't the calmest for you...Look, there's Andy!"

He runs towards his brother and you barely follow him. Your suitcase rolls behind you as you try to keep up with his pace. Which is not an easy task.

"Andy, let me introduce you my best friend Y/N. Y/N, this is my older brother, Andrew."

Andrew smiles at you and stretches his arm. You do the same and he shakes your hand, still smiling widely: "Nice to meet you, Y/N. My brother told me about you."
"Nice to meet you too. He told me you play in the NHL, is it true?"

He nods his head and looks at his brother: "Smart girl you got. So, what are your plans here in Chicago, Y/N?"
"I actually invited her to celebrate your birthday with us since she is more like a family to me..."
