Double Journey Chapter 17

Amethyst's fingers shook as she was handed Salamence's Pokéball. Lucky's and Pearl's Pokeball's rattled a welcome. She was getting dressed into her regular clothes with Lyra's help. Zoroark was helping, as Amethyst's only female Pokemon. Magma was out with the rest of the group, who hadn't even seen Amethyst yet. Just Lyra.

Amethyst finished changing and styling her hair, and she and Lyra them decided to brush Silvy's long, wild mane of indigo hair. Lyra giggled as Silvy licked her nose. "Oh, what I would do for a Pokémon like you..." she said wistfully. Silvy smiled and proceeded to let the two girls brush her hair.

The sun hurt Amethyst's eyes as she stepped out to meet the group. She put on a pair of mirrored sunglasses that Green had bought for her. One rim was violet and the other was pale green.

She didn't see the group until she heard a Blaziken's screech and a Honchcrow's cry. "Hold still!!" She heard Gold yell in frustration. The group was right in front of her. A large painted sign that read You Did It was displayed. Silver's Honchcrow, Green's Pidgeot, Red's Charizard, and Gold's Meganium all stood happily in front of it. Amethyst broke into a smile as Magma raced forward to Meganium and the two began to play.

Red ran forward and hugged her. "We all thought you were dead," he said urgently. "We just received a call from nurse Joy that you woke up! And Diamond is here too!" He gestured toward the girl in her usual clothes, Blaziken beside her. She was smiling as she held hands with Gold, but something was strange. A large blue Pokemon Amethyst had never seen before ran right through the poster, ruining it. "Zuzu!!! Stop it this instant-" it was that Ruby kid who had dissed Arcanine.

"Oh no..." A girl with blue clothes and pigtails' voice cracked. "We ruined your poster..." Two rabbit like pokemon on either of her shoulders sighed, reflecting her mood. "I'm so sorry."

Amethyst didn't know what to say to the girl. "It's alrigh-"

She was cut off by an angry voice. "GET YOUR BUTT BACK HERE SO I CAN KICK IT!!!!" Silver screeched. "YOUR STUPID AXOLOTL RUINED AMETHYST'S POSTER!!!" He began to run after Ruby, Honchcrow following and squawking loudly. Harper and her Lucario raced after him.

"I'm Sapphire," the girl continued. "I'm here because my friend Wally wanted to see all the Pokemon." She turned. "Wallace!"

The sickly green haired boy shyly stepped out. "Umm, hi. do you think you could, uh, tell me about a Pokemon called Arcanine?"

Amethyst's heart caught in her throat. No, no, no, no. Keep yourself calm.

"I-I..." she stuttered, remembering Arcanine lying on the surgery table.

"Oh!!!" Wally said shyly. "The Arcanine lying on the table...it...it must've been yours."

Amethyst choked. "Y-yes..." She stated. "But it's okay. I... I should've not been this emotional, but, I'm not going to worry about it."

She giggled and spread out onto the blanket. "Arcanine will be fine!"

She flipped onto her stomach and looked out at the meadow. What she saw surprised her as she lowered her sunglasses to the bridge of her nose.

"Mother of Arceus."
