Chapter 16

Amethyst broke the cord holding her in bed and it lashed to the floor. Magma snarled at her, get back in bed. Amethyst shook hr head. "Where's Arcanine?" she questioned Nurse Joy sullenly. Nurse Joy sighed. "I guess you can go and see it." She pulled out a foldable wheel chair and sat Amethyst down in it. She began to push Amethyst out of the ER, Magma limping beside her. They reached a closed off observation room made of Fiberglass, which broke with a price to pay for stupidity. She could see Arcanine on a table inside, completely still. On the other side of the hallway surrounding the glass room were two boys. One was small, and green haired with a little Pokemon Amethyst had never seen before on his shoulder. His eyes were wide as he stared at Arcanine, and he suddenly began to convulse with coughs. The boy beside him had on a white hat, which under black hair was barely visible. he wore Red clothes and reached out to the skinny green haired boy,

Patting his back. The pokemon on the boy's shoulder nudged him.

The Ruby-clothed kid looked over at Amethyst and they locked eyes for a moment before he began to speak loudly. "I would hate to be that Pokemon's trainer. It's hair is so matted and those scars are highly uncouth!"

The little green haired kid shook his head. "Ruby, it looks fine. The Pokemon is in trouble, now is not the time to make remarks on its hygiene!"

Amethyst's clenched fist relaxed a bit.

She couldn't watch Arcanine like this, and she wheeled herself out of the room.

Lucky and Pearl snored beside her wheelchair. They were sleeping when she came out, but Lucky was beginning to stir. The two large Pokémon opened their eyes. When they saw their trainer, they immediately lifted their heads. Amethyst smiled as Lucky made a low purring sound, and Pearl nudged the side of her with the very tip of his nose so not to hurt her. The nurse smiled. "I'll go call your friends to tell them you're awake. They're very worried about you. Your Zoroark is in the care of your friends, and your Salamence will be out shortly."

Amethyst nodded appreciatedly, her mood lightened by her Pokemon. The nurse dipped her head before quickly walking away. Amethyst turned back to her Pokemon. "Now I want you all to listen to me." She stated. "No matter what happens to Arcanine, you'll keep calm."

Magma let out a cry of agreement, standing beside her, and Lucky let out a small grunt, his eyes skimming the ground. Pearl, who hadn't ever really liked Thunder the Arcanine looked sad.

Amethyst felt a tear sliding down her face, and in a few moments, she was laying in her spot on Pearl's steel mask, sobbing her eyes out. Magma was trying to jump in with her. He was holding something in his mouth. It was Amethyst's badge case, with the two out of eight badges. Amethyst knew at that moment her Pokemon were counting on her, and she couldn't give up.
