Double Journey Chapter 40

Amethyst had been well cared for. All she had really done since their return was tell people about what had happened, even her Pokemon. Arcanine growled sadly because he had not been able to protect her, but Amethyst told him to forget it. She changed into her training outfit and told Diamond to do the same. Today was the day that they would be training for the Double Battle segment of the Lavaridge Contest.

Amethyst had bought a new training outfit, and she loved it. It was a dark blue zip-up-to-the-throat underarmor tank top, with salmon pink, pastel green, and turquoise stripes. Along with it were black fingerless gloves, black yoga pants, and dark blue boots.

"Can I come too?" Opal asked excitedly.

"Sure," Diamond said, as they began to walk to the training building.

When they got there, it was empty. Opal sat down in the empty bleachers and watched as Amethyst let out Arcanine. Her and Diamond went their separate ways.

After strength and conditioning warmups, Amethyst was ready to put her years of Gymnastics training to good use. It was common for kids in Johto to enroll in Gymnastics because of Pokéathlon, but she really needed that training now because in their routine, Amethyst had to catch Arcanine from 7ft+, and he was no feather himself.

"Okay Arcanine, get started with a fire spin!" Amethyst called out. Arcanine pointed his muzzle up and shot spiraling fire into the air.

"Now, leap in!" Amethyst called. Arcanine bunched his muscles and jumped into the vortex, stretching out as far as he could go. Amethyst watched him dissappear into the fire, then yelled, "Close Combat, now!"

Arcanine's tail, paws, and teeth suddenly ripped the fire apart, and then Arcanine began to fall. Amethyst raced to him and caught him, wincing at his weight as it hit her arms. Next, Arcanine leapt off of Amethyst, and bent down for her to get on his back. This was the part that they had been having trouble with, but Arcanine looked determined. Amethyst leapt onto his back. "Now, Arcanine! Hidden Power!"

Arcanine's eyes flashed, and rocks began to jut out of the training walls. Arcanine made a huge leap onto the first rock, which couldn't hold his weight and crumbled, but not before he bounced to the next rock, which did the same thing. When there were no more juts, they began free-falling to the ground. "NOW! Protect!!" A blue light shone over them as they hit the ground with astonishing impact, causing an explosion of blue light as protect combatted with the ground. The duo emerged unscathed, and Amethyst hopped off of Arcanine's back.

"Okay, now, finish it with Solar Beam!"

Arcanine began to absorb light, and Amethyst rolled beneath his paws.

Suddenly he fired, shrouding them in green light and making it impossible for anyone to see them. After the light cleared, they had already assumed position, with him on two legs holding her up with his front paws. After that they dropped to the ground, exhausted.

"that was flawless," she whispered, hugging him.

Amethyst and Diamond took up battling stance about 1o meters away from the training dummies. In one hand they each clutched a Pokeball.

They were practicing for the double battle segment!

First, they both twirled in outward circles, thrusting the Pokeball arm out. Amethyst and Diamond brought that arm to their chests suddenly, keeping the inner arm out at an angle, held up the Pokeball, brought it back and tossed it, just as they had been practicing earlier. When the light cleared, Arcanine and Glaceon stood with her on top of his back.

Glaceon leapt off and stood beside him.

"Okay, Arcanine! Extremespeed!" Amethyst yelled, pointing at the target.

"Glaceon, cloak him in ice!" Diamond yelled.

Arcanine began to run towards the target, and Glaceon shot ice at his moving body.

He was running too fast to be completely frozen, and the ice formed shards all over his body. He hit the target hard straight in the center. Ice flew all over the training room, in sharp shards.

"Glaceon, jump on the ice shards and send them back down to the target!" Diamond shouted at her Pokemon.

The blue dog sent the ice shards spiraling down to stab the targets, did a flip, and landed beside Arcanine.

"Great job!" They both yelled.

Arcanine was panting but he stood with his front paws apart and his back legs bent.

Glaceon encouraged him, and they both looked determined.

"Use flamethrower now!" Amethyst yelled. At the same time Diamond screeched, "Use ice beam!"

The two moves collided in the air, forming a huge mass of flame and ice. Arcanine and Glaceon let out a huge cry as they used all their power to send the mass hurtling at the target.

They had destroyed basically the whole half of the training center, leaving Opal with singed hair. Amethyst and Diamond looked at each other with wide eyes. "Oh we are in

so much trouble." Amethyst's voice was a little over a whisper.

"Run!!" Opal said. "Nurse Joy is gonna be pissed!" She didn't have to tell them twice. Diamond and Amethyst called their Pokémon back and raced out the door, being met by Red, Gold and Green.

"What was that noise?" Red asked, inspecting Amethyst to see if she was hurt. "Are you okay? It was pretty loud."

"Yeah, I'm fine. But the training centre isn't and we won't be unless we get out of here!!!"

Amethyst gave the group a few moments to get their bags repacked(they never really unpacked) and barked out orders. She could literally hear Nurse Joy getting the guards on their butts.
