A Changed Man (A Loki fan fiction)

Loki's POV

"You asked her to marry you!?" Father looked shocked. Glad or displeased, I wasn't sure. 

"I love her, father..." I began.

"Love, Loki? You love her? How long have you known that mortal!?" mother said. 

"Mother? Why are you against this!?" I felt hurt. "I thought you liked her."

"She's not the one Loki. You betrothed. You cannot give up our kind for a self-destructing, mindless race!"

"They are NOTHING of the sort, mother!" i felt myself flare up, then felt Thor's hand on my shoulder. I stopped myself. 

"Father..." i turned to my last support. "Do you also not approve?" 

He didnt say a word, only looked at me. I tried to read his mind. I do approve. But you cannot go against your mothers wishes.

I had The All Fathers permission. Without a second glance, I walked out of the the throne room, snesing my mother wasnt pleased. But Danielle was what mattered. She helped me, and I wanted to be there for her. 

"Do you realise that by going against mother's wishes, you have brought upon yourself her anger and possible banishment from Asgard?" Thor ran to catch up with me.

"Why does mother not approve of Danielle?" 

Thor stopped suddenly, so I had to turn back and face him. "Thor..?"

"She asked Danielle if you asked her for marraige, if she would say yes."

"And what did Danielle say?"

"Nothing. You had come, so Mother left."

"Is that it? Danielle was unsure and now Mother doubts her intentions?"

"Loki, Father is on your side. But Mother has every reason to..."

"Why, beacuse I'm a god?" I said. "Is that what mother is worried about?"

"Loki, Frigga worries for you..." I saw Father in the corridor. Thor walked away, leaving Father and i alone. 

"Loki, when you and Thor were young and often said you had nothing to do, I'd always tell you to go by the lake and find something to do...." He leaned against one of the many dazzling pillars and continues the story. ".... you and Thor would play a game. In it, you were often his bride."

I hoped he hadn't told Danielle all that. How embarrasing. 

"He was the groom and the Minister, and when he said "i now declare you husband and wife", you would always ask one question."

He paused for a minute, waiting for me to remember. I didn't. 

"You would ask Thor: Is it me that you love or how I am with you that you love?" and Thor never knew the answer to that. Even as a child and even in game, you always knew how to put the other person off. I take it you hated being the bride always, so you would ask that to stop everything." Father laughed. "...poor Thor got tired of being asked that and you never played that game again."

"What is the answer?" I asked him. 

"I always thought it was who you are. A person has many personalities inside him. They are different to different people, they lie to some, they help some... But all of these traits make us one person. And that is who we are. Being loved for who you are with a person is of no use, for you live in one life forever." he stood up straight and came close to me. "Being loved for who you are... thats something."

He smiled and left me quietly.
