Being Back.. (2)

"Danielle...!" Loki jumped up and pulledher in his arms. "Finally!"

She grinned and received a punch on her shoulder. "You didnt tell me." he complained. 

"Well... it was last minute." 

As Loki and Danielle started to catch up on everything that happened, Sigyn silently left the two alone and shut the doors behind her. Walking towards the maids quarters, she admired the view from her height.... The sun was harsh, but that didnt stop the children from playing with wooden swords, dressing up in blue to pretend to be Jotuns, and yell at each other. The girls nearby, ignoring all the action, merely set up small tables for their dolls. The men, further away, in training... and the women by the river, gossiping and exchanging age-old recipes. And the rare few that hung about as couples... women and men, men and men, women and women... 

Peace was back. Even though Sigyn never felt its absence, she felt this was what it must feel like. It seemed everything was right again in Asgard. 

Lost in her thoughts and praises for the city, she walked slowly along the railing, running her fingers on the beautiful carved wood. 

"Oh!"

The shock made her step back and look at the person she bumped into. 

"Thor Odinson!" she exclaimed. Realizing who she was in the precense of, she bowed. 

"Who are you!?" he asked kindly. 

"Sigyn, my Lord. I was given a post in the palace as one of the healers."

"Where do you come from?" 

"Jotunheim."

Thor stared at her. "How did you ever get in!?"

"I suppose your brother will tell you." she tried to slide past him, but he caught her hand. 

"Lets ask him together." he said firmly, pulling her in the direction of Loki's chambers.

"So... did you see her?" Loki asked, offering the plate of food Sigyn brought to Danielle. She took some bread and nodded. "No, he didnt want to go through with it."

"Why not!?"

He chickened out she wanted to say. Instead: "He thought it's better to leave things the way they are. I mean what if she wanted to come to Asgard!? There would be another war and too many questions to answer and pose an embarassment to The All-Father."

"That doesnt sound like Thor." 

No, it doesnt. she thought, sadly. 

"So..." he came closer to her and smiled. "Did you miss me?" 

"Ofcourse I did..." she took his face in her hands and slowly ran her thumb across his lips. He flinched and moved back. 

"What's wrong!?"

He resumed his earlier seat. "I was in Jotunheim."

"What!?" Danielle stood up, and Loki instantly felt colder. "What did Laufey do to you?" she demanded.

"Nothing I couldnt handle... Danielle, its done now, I..."

"WHAT..." she stared at him. "... did. Laufey. Do?" 

"Nothing.. his guards."

"His guards? What did they do?"

"Danielle... I love that you wont stand if someone hurt me, but there is nothing you can do about it but let go."

She sighed and sat down. 

"Im fine, Danielle..." Loki smiled. "Look..." she took her hands in his and ran her fingers across his own lips without moving a muscle.

"Brother!" Thor pushed in the doors and walked in, holding Sigyn's hand. "Did you really bring her here!?"

"We rescued her from prison..." Loki got up. "She's a healer here."

"See?"

"You will remain silent!" Thor shouted. "Do you not know better than to let her enter here?"

"What's wrong if she does?" 

"Who is she?" Danielle asked. 

"Sigyn. Her cell was opposite mine."

"You were in a cell!?" Thor and Danielle said in unison. 

"All RIGHT!" Sigyn cried. "Lets go step by step..." she turned to Thor. "I was in prison for killing my brother..." Thor rolled his eyes, as if expecting that, but let her continue. ".... he would hit me. Constantly. I couldnt take the abuse anymore, but the guards wouldnt understand." she turned to Danielle. "... Yes, I was a cell opposite his, when your son came to..."

"My son!?" 

Silence followed. The four stood staring at the floor, each hiding something. 

"Chris was freed from Valhalla by Mimir, but sent back after he rescued me." Loki said. 

"How can he do that without Odin?" 

"Danielle, that's hardly the point!" Thor said, irritated. Danielle glared at him and he kept quiet. Loki stared at Thor, knowing him to always challenge anyone who ever glared at him. 

"Sigyn helped us escape." Loki said. "I owed her a favor." 

Thor huffed and walked away. Sigyn remained. 

"Well... now that that's cleared up, I guess you can go back..." Danielle said. Sigyn bowed and left, closing the doors behind her. 

Loki came close and held her from behind. "We were rudely interrupted." 

"We will interrupted again." Danielle pushed him away. "Why didnt you tell me Chris came?"

"Because who wouldnt want to have THIS conversation!?"

Thor's POV:

Jane was in Midgard. All the attempts to forget the one mistake I commited proved in vain. But despite knowing how wrong it was, I couldnt help but remember how it felt...

NO, DONT GO THERE!

But the snow.. and Danielle, worked to her last bone helping me find my life... 

I sighed and fell on the bed. It shouldnt have to be so hard. I have Jane. I love Jane. 

The next minute, I heard a commotion outside. Irritated, I got up and yanked the doors open. Danielle was arguing with the guards. 

"You said you were not to be disturbed, my Lord." the guard explained. 

"They are family..." I held the door open for Danielle. "I apologize, Danielle. Come in." 

She seemed to be holding a curse back as she entered my chambers. I closed the doors behind her. 

"Loki and I had a fight." she said flatly. 

"And you tell me this... why?"

"Thor..." she was going to ignore my question. "Loki cant ever know." ah, there we go. 

"Know what?" I smiled. 

She gave a sigh of relief and smiled, but it looked forced. 

"Really, I've forgotten all about it." I lied. "What did it feel like?"

Her smile disappeared. She looked at me, her expression giving away nothing. She swallowed and stepped closer, holding her hands out in front of her, as if she meant to push me away if I came closer. She stood on her tiptoes and held the back of my neck in her hands and pulled me into a kiss before I knew it.
