I stepped out of the car and looked to the palace before me. It was decorated in too much color and hurt my eyes. I put my hand in front of my eyes and looked to my left at Danielle. Among that ugly, unnecessary festival of bright lights, Danielle looked the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes on. She looked so simple... unlike the Asgardian women. I liked her simplicity.
"Shall we, Thomas?" she smiled and offered me her hand.
"We, shall, Danielle" I returned the smile and took her hand. She led me to the entrance into a hall warmly washed with golden light. It was much better than the eyesore outside.
I entered a big hall, full of talking people. Talking about each other, exchanging pleasantaries they didn't mean...
"Okay, Loki.. um, Thomas..." Danielle laughed. "Now I know how much you would probably hate this, but remember...."
"Miss Danielle Stark!"
Danielle and i turned to face a woman I assumed was in her sixties.
"Mrs. Fear!" Danielle shook hands with her. I politely stood behind her. "Seems like a fun party!" By fun i mean I shall continue to hope and pray someone trips and falls into your prized China so I can leave I read her mind.
"And who is this fine gentleman!?" I heard Mrs. Fear and I looked up at her politely.
"This is Thomas, my friend." Danielle introduced us. "Thomas, this our hostess, Mrs. Fear."
"Delighted." I smiled at her.
After she left, Danielle turned to me. "See? Thats all you have to do. Be polite to all the people you hate." she laughed. "Its fun, watch...." she left my side and tapped another man on the shoulder. He turned. "oh, Mr. Kravitz, you look posotively handsome in that new suit!" The man smiled widely and before he could say anything, Danielle was by my side. I laughed.
"See? Fun!"
"Excuse me, don't I know you from somewhere?" I felt a hand on my shoulder. I wanted to brush it off, but I willed myself to turn and smile. A man. He had a glass of something sparkling and his eyes were red. Danielle jumped in.
"He arrived from London a week ago, I doubt you saw him..."
"No, im posotive I have seen this man before!" I noticed there was something odd about the way he spoke.
"Must be a co-incedence, sir." Danielle gave him a big smile I knew to be fake. "Do excuse us..." she pulled me away from the man.
"Now I'll have to stick to you all night, in case someone remembers you from New York."
"Is that so bad?" I pulled her to me.
"No..." she smiled up at me. "Just dont talk to anybody."
"Just you.." I looked into her eyes. I saw myself, clearly. The real me. The me that wanted her. I kissed her. She gently put her hand behind my neck and pulled me closer. She suddenly broke the kiss and I saw her face turn pink.
"We have dinner to get through.." she groaned.
"Why is that a bad thing!?" I ask her.
"Dinner means less of eating and more of asking about the other persons life...."
"Whats this then!?" I motion to the crowd talking amongst us.
"Commenting and being spiteful about the others clothes."
I laughed. She has the very opinion I do. "You dont have to stay."
"Yes, I do." she looked at me apologitically.
"No, you dont...!" I took her hand in mine and pulled her to me. "Let me save you...." i whispered in her ear.... "Let me save you, Danielle..."
