Danielle's POV:

There's something cold and unwelcome about the throne room. Or maybe I felt that way because I had come to speak to the All-Father about something that was kept shut away for years. And an outsider was about to confront him.

"Danielle...?"

"All-Father, Odin..." I set the book down and bowed to him.

"That book has been kept away for years now..."

"You have to tell Thor."

"I neednt do anything you ask of me, Jotun."

"You make it sound like an insult, yet you..."

"Danielle, do not complete that sentence."

I stayed silent and looked down. "Afford him the privliege of knowing his mother, All-Father."

"He has done well without it."

"He doesnt know it himself."

He looked at me sadly. "I have no courage, Danielle. He will never again look to me as..." he trailed off. "I have kept many in the dark about this. It would be best to find out on his own."

"The way Loki found out?"

I could almost hear something inside Odin shatter. I felt frozen on the inside, as I walked closer to him. "The way you let Loki find out, All-Father, that he was adopted?"

He was breathing harder. I could feel it. "Only in darkness, does one know light" I said. "Werent you the one who wrote that? What is Loki, then? The darkness? The darkness by which to compare Thor? You never meant to save Loki, you never meant to give him the throne. He was born, for you, to glorify Thor." he slumped back. "LOOK AT ME!"

My own voice scared me. "You're a king? You're no king... You're a coward. Thor and Loki look to you in awe and great respect, when in reality, the courage you preach of is lost in you." His eyes closed and I couldnt hear him breathe anymore. "What right have you to sit on the throne of Asgard when your own morals speak so little of you!?"

I felt strong hands pull me away from Odin, who lay on the throne in the oddest way. I didnt put up a fight.

"Danielle, what are you doing?" Thor turned me to face him. He wore a helmet, in which I saw my reflection. I was ice blue. He let go of me almost immediately because of the cold.

"Father!" he rushed to Odin and knelt by him. "Danielle, he's fallen into the Odinsleep!"

"Isint that just convenient then." I muttered under my breath.

"Danielle, leave now, or you could suffer banishment..."

I stared at him, unable to talk. He has to know... HE HAS TO... HE HAS TO....

"Quick! While I fetch mother..." he turned to leave and something inside me snapped.

"She's not here."

*****

Thor's POV:

"She is, I just saw..."

"Thor, she is not your mother."

I stared at her. "You need a bed and a cloth on your head, Danielle...."

She looked like she was holding back a laugh. Or maybe not.

"Look at this..." she knelt down and picked up a dirty book off the floor. "Thor, she isint your mother."

A rush of guards surrounded us, and two others carried Odin on their shoulders to his private chamber. The book in my hands was close to filthy, and I suspected enough creatures had made it their home.

"It doesnt matter!" she said, annoyed. Ofcourse, she can read my mind. She opened up to a page with a picture on it and text written in the most beautiful style. But fading and not quite something I usually read. I shook my head and handed it to her.

"Thor.. Your mother is Jord."

"She is Jotun..." I paused, while Danielle continued to look at me sympathetically. "... I am..."

I am Jotun.
