A Changed Man (A Loki fan fiction)

Third Person POV's

"Leave or fight..." they heard a voice.

"They have what they wanted..." Sif said. "They've taken Loki."

Danielle looked up at Thor. She didn't need to be told what Thor was thinking. Asgard was safe. But even Thor didn't dare to think further. 

"You think we should go, don't you?" Danielle said. Thor did, but he could never bring himself to say it. He didnt want to leave either. But he would be comprimising the safety of everyone in Asgard.

"I don't need to be a god to know what's going through your mind, Thor." she said. 

"Danielle.... its unsafe." he said softly, knowing well that everything he said hurt Danielle more and more. "They wont let Loki live if we pursue this any further."

"I'm not going..." 

"Danielle...."

Danielle seemed drained, but firm. "I'm staying. With Loki. Here."

He knew there was nothing he could say which would sway Danielle otherwise. He sighed, not wanting to go leaving her exposed to the Frost Giants. But Danielle showed no sign of getting up from the snow where Loki lay a few minutes ago. 

"I will come back for you..." Thor promised. "With an army."

Danielle smiled weakly. "I'll be here."

Thor kept his hammer beside Danielle. "Pick that up."

"I can't.."

"If you're worthy, you can."

"What is worthy, really..?" Danielle questioned. "You're a god. You protect millions from death, destruction and war."

"Don't you protect?"

"Not the way you do."

"But you do protect."

Danielle stared at Thor, not believing the conversation. "Pick it up.." he repeated. "Just see if it works. You need the protection."

She reached out to touch the hammer, the biting cold hitting her skin. She grasped the handle and slowly.... very slowly...

She lifted it.

"It's not heavy!" she exclaimed. 

"You're worthy." he smiled. "But I'll need that once I return."

Danielle stood up with Mjolnir, renewed energy, and hugged Thor. "Thankyou..." 

He grinned at her once she let go, and called for the Bifrost. A moment later, he was gone.
