Danielle's POV:
It's been an endless parade of celebrations for the past few weeks. We won the four month long war with Jotunheim. Shorter, compared to the wars earth is accustomed to. It took a month to restore all nine realms to peace, and Thor went around, making sure of that. After order was restored, the warriors all took a day to heal. And then started the celebrations. Endless drinks, music, dancing, food, bonfires and playful wresting. it seemed the men never got tired of showing off their victory. Asgard was a vision of gold already, and the glittering lights and lit fires on the fighting grounds made you look away.
But the celebrations do get old. I spent the last few days locked up in mine and Loki's room, going through old books. They hadnt been opened in ages, and the dust that collected on each of the hundred books made me cough badly. Obviously the attendants didnt think the books worth their while to dust either. Pity, they had beautiful hard covers with gorgeous writing that had badly started to fade.
Loki was away, ofcourse. While other women celebrated their husbands return with a night of passion, Loki and I were in Odin's library, nearly tearing pages in our desperation to find ANYTHING that would bring Chris back.
The heavy gold doors in Loki's chambers opened with a loud creak and as a reflex, I raised my hand...
"It's just me..."
Thor smiled sympathetically. He walked over to the bed and sat on the edge and breathed in like he was about to start an endless lecture.
"Thor, you really dont have to..." I returned his smile. "I'm fine, really. He died in honour."
"He has the high seat in Valhalla."
"i dont know what that means, but that sounds reassuring."
"Danielle..." he caught my hand as I was turning the page. "Nothing will bring him back. Accept that."
"Can I not see him in Valhalla?"
"It is only for the All-father to go."
"And he will not allow me?"
"No, Danielle...."
He sighed and got up. "Loki asked me to check if you're okay."
"And what stops him from asking me this himself?"
"He regrets taking your son to battle with him, Danielle. He can barely show ME his face."
"Do tell him I wish to see him."
"Ofcourse." he paused and looked at me. "Knowing your son, he is happier there. There is a feast and fighting every night in Valhalla."
I smiled, this time a real smile. "I know he is, Thor."
He walked away and shut the doors behind him. And just then.... I saw it.
"Danielle..." The doors swung open and Loki walked in. "I need to.."
"Loki, Thor is Jotun!"

Loki's POV:
"Thor is Jotun?" I repeated.
She explained to me what she just learnt, theories and possibilities, what might have gone wrong... And I stared at her.
"Why arent you saying anything?"
"Danielle.... I know."
"What!? Does Thor...."
"No, Thor doesnt know. No one knows."
"Surely Odin must know! How could he do this to Frigga...!?"
"They didnt know one another then." she was starting to lose her temper.
"Well, isint it in Thor's right to know his mother is Jord, the giantess of Jotunheim, and not Frigga? I mean, how did you know?"
I shrugged. "Im a frost giant. I know my kind. He's HALF Jotun, Danie..."
"... is that supposed to make up for him not knowing his own mother?"
"Danielle, listen well..." I stood close to her. "Thor must never know."
"It is in my duty to tell him."
"It is in your duty to let HIM remain happy even if you are not!" I said loudly, and then realised my tone and what I'd said.
She stared at me angrily, the air around her becoming colder. I stepped back, but she only came closer. "Loki Laufeyson...." her eyes burned into mine, and for the first time, I felt threatened. "Dont ever say that again... I mourn his loss, but I would never drag someones happiness into the mud just to make ME feel better. And that you should think of me in.."
"Why does this mean so much to you?"
The question changed her face immediately and she turned on her heel and walked to the bed. "Go celebrate, Loki. Leave me alone."
"Is this about your father?"
She only smiled at me.
