*15 Days Until The Wedding*

I wake up in my new bed feeling well rested for a change. Yesterday, I had spent my day wandering this new home and putting away all of my things. Shane had come home late, only a few minutes before I went to bed. He said his work had "piled up" and that we just couldn't leave until it was finished. I told him that it didn't bother me, he can live his life without telling me. I'm not going to act as a parent, asking why he comes home late one night. He can do whatever he wants, I'm not going to judge him. I stretch my arms up towards the ceiling and yawn heavily, my way of waking up every morning. Although, I can't say that I'd change it, even if I could. I suddenly hear a bell ring from downstairs, it sounds like a type of doorbell. I throw the blankets off my body and start towards the door to my room, opening my door without any thoughts. I stare down the stairs and don't see anyone answering the door, so I start to answer it. I walk downstairs, which is much easier than going up stairs if I have to say anything about it. I sleepily walk towards the front door, wiping sleep from my eyes lazily. I almost lay on the door when I open it. Jack stands on the other side holding many bright colored lilies. My favorite flower, I guess I told Jack at some point, but I can't remember it right now.
"Hey, I got these for you." Jack says, breaking my thoughts and extending his hand to give me the flowers.
"Why? I don't need them, not that I don't appreciate it." I say with a small laugh to remove any tension that my sentence might have cashed.
"Take it as a housewarming gift. I just saw them in a store and immediately knew they were for you." Jack explains happily. I finally accept the lilies into my hands and motion for Jack to come inside. However, soon after he takes a step inside and we close the door I hear a door upstairs open in a hurry.
"Coming!" Shane shouts as he fixes his hair and rushes out of his room towards the staircase. I feed him a confused look as I'm not sure what he's talking about.
"Oh, never mind. Sorry, a lot of people tend to come to my home for business. Good morning Violet, Jack. Oh, do you need a vase for those flowers? There's one in the kitchen, I can get it if you want." Shane offers as he continues down the stairs towards us with his classic smile on; the one he always has for public occasions.
"Thanks..." I say in a slightly hushed voice, but he can hear me.
"I hope you don't mind me intruding, I just wanted to talk with Violet." Jack says, as if he had to explain himself to Shane.
"Not at all, you're welcome in my home anytime." Shane says, now on the first floor standing near us. "I'm sure Violet explained our agreement with this marriage." Shane says in a more hsuhed voice, I suppose it's to keep it all a secret.
"She did." Jack respond, lightly grasping my hand in a protective manner as he stares at Shane with eyes that just show how strong he is.
"Then I'm sure you know what your situation is in this. Like I said, you're welcome in my home, even if it's a permanent measure." Shane responds in a stern tone, staring at Jack in a way that just shows his power.
"Thank you, I'll make sure to keep that in mind." Jack replies, his eyes staying fixated on Shane, only glancing in my direction for a brief moment.
"Good, I'm sure I'll see you around Jack. Now, I'll go grab that vase for those flowers." Shane says, slowly stepping away towards the kitchen that is behind him on the left sire of the staircase. Jack nods in a way that shows he understands and approves the statement before he turns his eyes to me.
"What was all that about? You guys looked like you were talking about life or death for a second." I say with a nervous laugh.
"You're important to me and he knows it. He needed to show me that, it was just his way of telling me that he respects me and our relationship. He was basically telling me that he approves of me being with you, it's a guy thing." Jack chuckles, running his thumb over my hand lovingly.
"Guys are weird." I answer him with a chuckle that matches his.
"Yes, yes they are." Jack says with his bright smile creeping back onto his lips before he kisses me. He just pecks my lips before giggling like a child that he is inside. I smile brightly at his small action and lay my head on the crook of his neck lovingly.
"All of this is so weird..." I mumble as Jack starts rubbing my back with his hand in a caring way.
"Why?" Jack questions me back with a slight chuckle.
"Well, I'm getting a fake marriage to a leader of a compound that we all live in. Then I have a man who is the father of my child and he has a huge anger issue and I don't want to live with him and I'm worried that because of that his anger will come out again. And then there's you. The man I want to be marrying and hope to in the future... But I can't right now. Sometimes I wish it wasn't Mark and I trapped together, but that it was you and me instead. Then, who knows what would have happened? I might actually have one of my problems solved if that was the case and everything between Mark and I would be able to actually end." I say in an almost helpless tone.
"Hey, I know your life is crazy." Jack says, backing up so he can see my face and moving a strand of hair out of my face. "But, it won't stay that way forever, it might not change today, or tomorrow, but eventually... everything will be fine." Jack states with a comforting smile. I nod my head in response and smile back.
"Thanks, it seems like you always know what to say." I respond with a small giggle at the cliché moment.
"Not really... But I'm not gonna argue." Jack chuckles. I roll my eyes and shake my head lightly.
"Okay, I left the vase in the kitchen when you want it. I'm going back to bed, you two have fun." Shane says as he passes by Jack and I and walks up the stairs towards his bedroom.
"Sleep well!" Jack shouts to him as he always does when people go to sleep around him.
"Thanks." Shane replies happily. He finishes up the stairs and opens the door to his room, walking inside. I turn my attention back to Jack and he chuckles childishly, giving me anither hug.
"Well, I have some stuff I have to do today. I might come by later, but I gotta head out for now." Jack says as he let's go of me.
"Where are you going?" I ask, following him towards the door.
"I promised that I would meet the guys at some pub in town. I'm not sure how long we'll be there, so I can't say if I'll be back or not. Just know that if any of them come by, they're probably drunk. I might not be because I can hold my liquor pretty well as I did grow up in Ireland." Jack chuckles, staring at me in a way that I remember he used to.
"I thought Mark can't drink anymore, it can kill him if he does." I say, slightly trailing off in my thoughts. Jack's face lights up at my statement and nods furiously.
"I'm so sorry, but I have to go really fast now." Jack says, almost bolting outside the door and falling down the steps with his feet so that he can get there quicker.
"I'm going with you!" I shout as I start after him outside the door too and falling down the stairs on Jack's heals.
"No. You stay here, I don't want you to be in a pub full of drunk people when you're pregnant." Jack says, stopping in his tracks to talk to me.
"I can handle myself, you more than anyone knows that." I state sternly, almost pushing Jack forward so that we can keep going.
"Fine, but if this gets ugly, get out of there." Jack tells me sternly. I nod in agreement and we start going down the steps once again.
