When we arrive at Jacks house he shows me my room and let's me relax for a while. I lay on the bed, tired from lack of sleep and the long flight.
"It's good to actually be relaxed." Kate laughs lightly. I smile at her comment and sigh in relief.
"It is. I like it here already." I respond quiet enough so that Jack wouldn't hear my voice.
"It's nice to have a home that you like. We can tell when you're happy." Lily says sweetly. Right as I was going to reply I see Jack walk into my room.
"How are you?" Jack asks as he sits on the edge of the bed.
"Good. Tired. You?" I return the question.
"Good. We should get you some clothes or something if you want." Jack suggests.
"Yeah. You can also show me around your home town." I chuckle, sitting up on the bed to see Jack better.
"That'd be great." Jack responds with a sweet smile cords his face. Jack helps me off the bed and leads me back out to his car. Jack drives us to a nearby clothes store and leads me inside.
"Pick out whatever you want. I can buy whatever you need." Jack smiles brightly with a laugh.
"I won't make it too expensive." I giggle as I walk around through the store with Jack following. I pick out some clothes and Jack graciously buys then for me.
"Let's walk around. You can show me the town." I laugh as we walk out of the store. Jack smiles softly and nods at my suggestion. He holds my hand in his and begins to lead me down the sidewalk.
"This is where the stores are mainly. People come around here to shop or hang out with friends." Jack explains with a smile.
"Its nice out here." I comment, looking at Jack and his beautiful, ocean blue eyes.
"Yeah, but it rains a lot out here. You'll probably see it by tomorrow." Jack chuckles.
"I've heard about the rain here. I really like rain though, its peaceful and calming." I explain sweetly.
"Not when you live in it, but do you wanna go back to my house? We can put away your clothes, and watch rain pour from the sky, and relax all day, just us. It will be great." Jack says soothingly rubbing his thumb over my hand.
"Let's go." I say, turning back to Jacks car with Jack following right behind me. Jack drives us back to his home and let's me inside. He closes the door and let's me set down my bags of clothes on the ground. Jacks grasps my hand and takes me to his couch. I wrap my arms around his arm, holding it tightly to me. Jack leans his head atop mine and closes his eyes softly. I look outside and see raindrops start to drop on the windows.
"You're falling for him? That's sweet. I approve though, I mean, he let us out of that asylum. But you should make a move soon, so go ahead. Kiss him. It will be good, trust me." Kate whispers in my head. I look into Jacks gorgeous eyes and decide to take Kate's advice. I lean forward and kiss his soft lips. I move my hand so it wraps around his neck. He slowly releases from me, opening his eyes once more.
"That's not what I expected." Jack chuckles.
"Me neither, but it was good." I laugh. Jack sighs happily and looks strait into my bright green eyes.
"I read your file, you know. You're 16. I'm about 10 years older than you." Jack sighs to me.
"So? They already think I'm crazy." I say with a laugh.
"True. We can be crazy together." Jack laughs as he kisses my cheek lightly.
"See? Taking my advice can make your life so much better." Kate laughs.
"But you told her not to trust him." Lily points out.
"I was testing her." Kate giggles lightly.
"I'm sure. Just let her have this moment." Lily demands sweetly.
"Fine. Have fun." Kate laughs.
Jack and I lay together on the couch, listening and watching the rain pour outside. I look at a clock on the wall and realize that its almost midnight.
"We should sleep soon." I comment, looking from the window to Jack.
"Probably." Jack agrees. We get off the couch and I let Jack lead me to my room. I sit on the bed and yawn. Jack sits next to me and kisses my cheek softly.
"Sleep tight. I'll see you in the morning." He says sweetly.
"Goodnight." I reply.
"If you need anything, just ask. I'll be more than happy to get you anything you need." Jack says.
"Thank you, for everything you've done for me. It really means a lot." I say sincerely. Jack smiles softly and puts a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"You don't have to thank me, but you're welcome anyway." Jack says with a laugh. "Well, I'll let you sleep. Goodnight Violet." Jack says sweetly as he gets off the bed and begins to walk out of the room.
"Goodnight." I call before he leaves the room. I lay down in the bed and tuck myself in after turning off the light. I put my head on the pillow gently and close my eyes. I almost immediately fall asleep after that.
I wake up the next morning and see sunlight shining in through the cracked open door and windows. I then hear a blood curdling scream from outside. I jump out of bed and run to the window. I look outside and see people running in the streets and a few people jumping on people making bright red blood come from them. I gasp at the sight and quickly run out of my room and down the hallway to Jacks room. He is running around his room gathering different items until he sees me and he stops in his tracks.
"Violet, a few of my friends are coming from America. It isn't safe around here and even less so there. They are saying that people are sick and are eating the doctors and everyone around themselves. We need to go in the wilderness once my friends get here." Jack explains as he continues to pack things into a bag.
"Like... A zombie apocalypse or something?" I ask confused at how that can be possible.
"Yes. Can you please pack some things from the kitchen? Foods and bottles of water." Jack asks in a hurry. I nod and run quickly to the kitchen. I find a few Tupperware and put different long lasting foods inside. I grab a few bottled waters from a cabinet and put all the items into a bag I find on the counter. I put the bag near the door so we can find it easily and then go back to Jack.
"What can I do now?" I ask, trying to help in any way I can.
"Uh, can you call a contact in my phone, Mark, and ask how far away he is from us?" Jack hands me his phone. I nod and call the contact Jack told me.
"Hey Jack." A man on the other end says, sounding out of breath.
"I'm Jacks friend, Violet. He wanted me to ask you how far away you are from us." I explain.
"Oh, we're getting close. There's just a lot of 'em on the road. Maybe 5 minutes away." The man I assume is Mark explains in his very deep voice.
"Okay. I'll tell him. Also, nice to meet you." I add.
"Nice to meet you too sweetie. I'll see you guys soon." Mark says in a nice tone.
"Okay. Bye." I say about to hang up the phone.
"Bye." Mark responds as I hang up. I hand Jack his phone back.
"He said they were about 5 minutes away." I tell Jack.
"Good. Can you take a few bags out to the car? I'll take the really heavy ones." Jack offers.
"Sure. Which ones am I taking?" I ask. Jack reaches over and hands me a few bags. We take all the bags to the car and then I see a few people hop out of a truck right next to us.
"Hey Jack. I'm guessing you're Violet?" The deep voice from the phone asks me. I look and see a man with dark hair and chocolate brown eyes.
"Yeah. You're Mark?" I question. He nods and I see a few others come out of the car. They both are very tall and are holding large crates.
"This is Wade, that's Bob." Mark points to each of the men he came with. I wave lightly as I open the car door for them to load up the crates.
"Its gonna be a tight fit in here." Jack comments looking at the car.
"It'll be fine." Mark responds as he puts a hand on Jacks arm.
"I can sit on someone's lap... To save space I mean." I offer looking at Jack to Mark.
"I'm gonna be driving. I don't trust these guys with my car. But, if they will let you, go ahead." Jack explains with a laugh.
"You seem cool, I'll let you." Mark says with a small smile. I nod at his offer to agree to him.
"Well, we better hurry up if we wanna get out there when everyone else isn't going." Jack says as he hops into his car. Wade and Bob get in the back seat next to each other. Mark sits in the passenger seat and me atop him. Jack starts the engine and begins driving away from the city and into the open fields far away from here.
