~*4 Days Until The Wedding*~

Yesterday was probably one of the laziest days I've ever had. Shane and I just sat around the house and he even made us dinner. He has been wanting to do that for quite a while now, and I'm glad I participated. We really got to know one another, and it was basically our first bonding experience. That's strange to say, considering that I'll be marrying him in just a few days, but I don't mind. It is a fake marriage after all, it doesn't really mean much between both of us. Today, however, Shane had to go back to the office and sign a fee documents. And after his relaxed day yesterday, he's going to have a lot of work. I decided that today would be a good day to visit Jack. I haven't seen him in a while surprisingly. Since he doesn't live with the rest of the guys at my home I have to actually take another day to see him. So, I suppose today will be that day. I mean, most things between Jack and I are cleared up and I still want to be friends with him. I walk up the steps to his home, which is far less than my own, and I knock on the door. Faint footsteps can be heard from the other side, probably Jack scrambling to get the door. The door swings open and Jack stands on the other side with his bright smile on his face.
"Hey, come on in. I was just making some breakfast if you want some." Jack explains as I walk inside, carefully cradling my stomach as I walk. It has become a very time consuming task, to cradle for my child every day. But I'm sure it will be worth it.
"It smells good." I comment on his cooking when I enter. I've only seen Jack's house a few times, and it is nice now that I see it properly. The cream colored carpet is spotless and the light green walls have no chips in the paint. Even though my home has no flaws either, it's good to see that Jack has found a nice place too.
"Thanks, it's my favorite from the old world... Bacon!" He yells excitedly like a child would in this situation. I giggle at his comment and walk into the kitchen behind him.
"Well I'm glad you're happy." I say with a small chuckle. Jack pulls a chair out of his dining room and sets in next to me.
"Well thank you, and you can sit here." Jack explains. I nod and sit in the chair he had moved for me.
"Thanks." I say graciously, crossing my legs in a comfortable position.
"No problem." He replies as he tends back to his cooking and pokes the food inside with a fork on his counter. Good ol' Jackaboy, always doing things in a way I would've never thought of. He's such a silly child at heart, but I guess that's why I love him. I watch his eyes as they stare down at the pan carefully. I've never really seen him cook, we haven't really had a place for that to be a possibility. I'm just glad that he can now, it seems like something he enjoys, and we need that these days.
"So, what have you been up to lately? Besides wedding plans, Mark told me about that." Jack says as he tears his eyes away from the food and looks at me with a smile.
"Well, Shane and I were deciding if one of you guys should move in with us. He said that you guys are all welcome, but I know that you all have plans and I don't want to ruin anything and push this on any of you." I state with a small sigh. A part if me misses when we all were together all the time. However, I am happy that we all have found a home, even if they are separate.
"I might've taken that offer, but I just settled in here. But, I'll still keep it in mind for the future. Although, after Marisa is born, Mark will be living there if he can, I guarantee it." Jack says as he lazily spins around the bacon in the pan.
"I figured as much. But I think that will be a good thing for her, it will be a complete family." I comment with a smile that I couldn't hide even if I wanted to. Everything about Marisa just makes me happy even though she isn't born, I'm just excited to be a parent I guess.
"Yeah, that's always a good thing..." Jack trails off as he stares at his bacon intently.
"Yeah..." I agree, resting my hand on my stomach in a comforting way.
"I want to tell you something, just don't apologize or feel bad about it." Jack says turning his head to the side to his eyes meet mine.
"Okay... Go ahead..." I say with a hint of curiosity in my voice.
"I really wanted us to work out and for us to have a happy life together. However, I am glad that you're still going to have that with Mark. He is really happy and excited for this, even if he won't admit it to you, I know him well enough to know that. But, if things between both of you don't work out, I will always be here for you and Marisa. Even though she isn't mine I will still be there if either of you need me." Jack states firmly, resting his palm on the counter next to the stove. I nod slowly, just trying to let everything he said set in. I then glance at the pan behind him and see a small cloud of smoke appearing above it.
"Jack. Your bacon." I say. He spins around and yelps in terror.
"No! It's burned on the back!" Jack shouts as he spins the knob and turns the stove off.
"That's what happens when you get sappy." I say with a chuckle. Jack puts all the bacon on a plate and rolls his eyes at me. He then grabs one of the burned pieces and takes a bite of it. He then shrugs and takes another bite, finishing that piece.
"Not too bad..." He comments. I giggle lightly and reach over to the plate, grabbing one of the small, burnt pieces. I take a bite out of it... Well, this isn't how I wanted to be reintroduced to bacon.
"This isn't how I remember it..." I comment, slowly chewing the ashy taste in my mouth.
"At least I tried..." Jack mumbles as he easts another one of his burnt slices.
"Very true... And now we learned something: don't get sappy when you're cooking." I state with small laughter. Jack just shakes his head at me and continues eating.
