The group beings walking once more. We walk along the road so that we don't get lost. Jack walks next to me with Aaron staying surprisingly close and, of course, Mark staying close behind me.
"I've heard of a safe town near here. It's called The Serene. They might be able to help us." Aaron says as he turns from a nearby street sign to me.
"Where did you hear about them?" Jack asks curiously.
"Tyler and I were with another group before you. They were heading there, but all of 'em but Tyler got eaten by a pack of Eaters." Aaron explains, looking at the ground.
"What did they say about it?" Mark pipes up from behind me.
"They said it was safe and kept the place very safe from Eaters, but they accept everyone." Aaron explains.
"We should try to get there. It could be a good safe house." I say looking over at Jack.
"Okay. Let's head that way. Where exactly is it?" Jack asks Aaron. Aaron gives us directions and we begin to walk along the road to the location. While we walk I suddenly see a police car with a radio. I immediately start walking to it and open the door to see the radio has an illuminated light on it. I gasp and smile brightly as I grab the mic on it. I click the button and begin to speak.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" I ask as the rest of the group runs to my location, realizing what I'm doing. I hear static and mumbled voices. It slowly clears and I start to understand what they say.
"Hello Miss. Who might I be speaking to?" A male voice asks from the other line. I have never been so happy to hear a strangers voice.
"My name is Violet Clark. I am here with a group and we need help." I pant to the mic.
"What help do you need?" He asks calmly. I roll my eyes, maybe with the apocalypse going on, or my headache, either way I think sarcastically.
"Shelter, weapons, a car." I list a few things.
"I'm sorry miss Violet, I cannot get you those things because I am in a military base in Russia." He says sadly. I sigh and try to hold back tears.
"Okay. Thanks anyway." I drop the mic and get out of the car. I hear the man asking me questions, but all I hear is mumbling and muffled voices behind me. I hear Jack say something, but all I hear is his voice being very muffled. I see Mark jump into the car and start talking into the mic to the man instead of me. Jack grabs my shoulders, making my face focus on him and he says something that I still don't understand. Jack sighs when I don't answer and cups my face lightly and repeats himself, looking concerned. I blink a few times in shock and then I begin to hear everything normally.
"That's what you get for ignoring us." Kate whispers.
Jack looks concerned into my eyes.
"Hey, are you alright?" He asks worriedly. I nod at his question and put on a fake smile.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Jacks worried face slowly goes back to normal until he has a weak smile on his face. Mark comes out of the car and looks down at me.
"He is no help. Let's keep heading to " He says as he starts walking in the direction we had before. The group, including me, follow him, hope in my heart for the safe town. After a few hours of walking, the entire group is exhausted and sweaty from the walk and sun burning down on us.
"We should take a break." I say with deep breaths coming from my mouth.
"Yeah, let's rest here." Jack offers as he sits on a nearby fallen trees log. I sit next to Jack on the log, only now realizing how exhausted I really am. I have aches in my stomach and pains in my chest. I then hear a moaning that is all too familiar. Eaters. I quickly grab my crossbow and run into the woods behind me. I shoot a few in front of me and reload my weapon. I shoot all the Eaters I see, which ends up being about 15 and then lower my weapon. I look around for any more Eaters and don't see any. I start back to the road and the rest of the group when I feel a cloth on my mouth. I try to scream for help, but I start getting woozy and tired, until I pass out from the fumes on the cloth.

*Marks POV*

I sit in silence as we rest from our long journey. I try to avoid looking at Violet and make small talk with Wade and Aaron.
"So, they called you Yami?" Wade laughs at Aaron.
"I had a YouTube channel, it was called Yammimash. It became my nickname." Aaron explains with a sigh, remembering the past. I don't blame him, I miss those days where I could just relax or even see a movie. I look up to see Violet running off into the woods and Jack following close behind her. I jump up from my seat and start after her too. I run through rows of trees behind Jack until he stops suddenly. I accidentally run into him from his stop.
"What are you doing?" I ask like a rude asshole.
"She wants to kill things, just let her. She'll be back, trust me." Jack says starting to turn back to the group. I sigh and follow him, knowing he is probably right. I sit back down in my seat and start talking with Aaron and Wade once again. I wait for Violet to come from the trees at any second, but she never shows up. I glance at Jack who gives me a worries look that I assume is on my face as well. Almost at the same time, Jack and I jump up and begin walking back into the woods calling out Violets name. We hear no response, which worries us more until we see a small shack in the woods with a large, metallic fence around it. I stomp up to the house and try to unlock the fence. A man runs out of the house and stops me, running at the fence.
"Hey! What are you doing?" He asks in a strangely happy voice that gives me light chills.
"I'm looking for someone. Have you seen a girl with light brown hair and a badass crossbow?" I ask, knowing his answer will be no either way.
"Oh, no. You should go. Nice to meet you." The man starts walking away from the fence nervously. I look over at Jack and he nods as if he already knows my thoughts. Jack pulls out his knife and his rifle checking if it's loaded. I pull out my long knife and almost immediately open the fence. I stomp up to the door with Jack next to me. I knock loudly on the door and the same man as before opens it nervously.
"I told you, you both should go. Good day." The man tries to close the door, but Jack stops it with the tip of his rifle.
"Where is she?" He asks sternly. The man almost shivers in fear as Jack speaks the words.
"I... I don't know. They took her." The man stutters, full of fear.
"Who took her?" I ask threateningly.
"Men from The Serene" The man responds, full of fear.
