~*1 Day Until The Wedding*~
~*Violets POV*~

I wake up to Shane shaking me to consciousness.
"Are you awake now?" He questions me in a casual tone, as if this was just normal for him.
"Yeah... What are we doing?" I ask, still tired so it comes out quite groggy.
"The trucks are gathering all of our guests and we need to go as well. They asked for your presence 3 hours ago and I delayed it as much as I could, but now we need to leave." Shane says in a matter-of-fact tone and a nod. I push myself out of bed and onto my feet. We begin heading down the steps like normal, his hand on my waist for support. We then make it outside and I see a large, military type truck sitting at the bottom of the stairs. I guess that's the truck Shane has been talking about. Shane almost drags me down the stairs as I had stopped to stare at the truck. I quickly start down the steps with him and he begins whispering to me.
"Now, I had to do a lot of arrangements, but I think you'll enjoy this journey more with the people inside. However, I do have a few important businessmen inside, so please don't hold hands or anything with Jack." Shane whispers as we finally reach the bottom. A man next to the truck opens the door for me and offers a hand to help me up. I grab it and use it to push myself inside. I fall into the seat and smile at the sight of every one in the truck. Mark, Bob and Wade sit on the seat across from me with small boxes on each of their laps. Maddie, Emmet and Jack all sit next to me also with small boxes with them.
"Hey, what took you do long?" Wade chuckles as Shane gets himself inside as well and sits next to Mark on the other side.
"It's my wedding, I'm allowed to be late." I say sassily.
"You look like you just woke up..." Mark mumbles with a chuckle. I roll my eyes, he knows me too well.
"And you know this how?" I question him with my sassy attitude coming once more.
"I would explain... But I don't think we need to bring it up right now... Especially because it's so close to your wedding." Mark says with a smirk that I recognize too well. I roll my eyes again and then turn my attention to Shane.
"I though you said there would be businessmen in here too... But I don't see any..." I say in a questioning tone.
"Just wait, there's a reason why we're not leaving yet." Shane says, his eyes locked on the window as he stares outside. Suddenly his com goes off and he grabs it frantically, pressing the button to answer.
"Hello, Shane Lancaster here." He says, all business.
"Hello Mr. Lancaster, sorry I'm late, but I was finishing everything you told me. I just finished filing everything and sent the mail you ordered." Elise says. Of course that's who we're waiting for. He couldn't do work without his trusted assistant. Oh, my God, I can't believe him sometimes.
"Good, just hurry, we need to leave immediately. Did the leaders already head back today?" He questions her, his eyes meeting with mine for just a moment.
"Yes Mr. Lancaster, they've all had cars pick them up." Elise states. Shane nods and turns to me.
"Then we won't have any businessmen joining us." He explains before he goes back to the com. "Thank you Elise, now hurry and make sure you get the folder on my desk." Shane adds to her.
"Of course sir. I'll see you soon." She says as the com goes off as it loses signal.
"This happen often?" Maddie questions with a small giggle.
"Yes, you could say it that way. Although, that sounds all too negative for my taste." Shane responds, completely serious. Oh, it's going to be a long drive.
"So, because there aren't going to be businessmen with us... Does that mean that what you told me not matter anymore?" I ask, just wanting to hug Jack again. He's just right next to me, it would be so nice to have that on this drive.
"I'm sorry to say, but it does still apply. Elise will be joining us, and I don't want her of all people spreading rumors about us." Shane says sternly. He has a point, and that's what annoys me.
"Fine..." I mumble as I lean my head against the car wall.
"What? Can someone explain what just happened?" Wade asks, completely confused.
"I simply told Violet that she may not hold hands or anything with Jack during this journey. It would only prove all the rumors about this marriage. Do you know that 3 of the leaders came by my home yesterday with that accusation? We can't risk it, especially not now." Shane tells them sternly, but he's really telling me.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." I mumble, turning back to face him.
"I'm sorry Violet, but you were the one who asked me about this marriage. It's too late to change that I'm afraid." Shane says.
"Just stop it you two. This is supposed to be fun! We should play a game, like I spy or something!" Maddie suggests, breaking up the fighting between Shane and I.
"Oh, I just remembered! Tonight was supposed to be the party..." Jack says in a disappointed tone.
"Oh yeah, I forgot..." Mark admits with a nod.
"I apologize for that, I couldn't have this done any other day. It's a days drive there and I didn't want to spend more time than I have to there." Shane explains.
"It's okay, we can do a party when we get back." Mark tells me with a wink. I roll my eyes at him and giggle slightly.
"You're such a boy..." I mumble at him with another giggle.
"I'm a man, thank you very much." Mark replies, flexing his biceps slightly. Wade bursts out laughing and Bob follows after him, doing his laugh that always makes me smile.
"Well, I didn't think I was that funny, but thanks." Mark chuckles at them. I roll my eyes and laugh at his stupid joke and Bob's laugh.
"Y'know, I missed hanging out with you guys for this reason... You crack each other up without even trying." Maddie says as she starts laughing as well.
"Very true, I'm glad I agreed to this, it'll be a good bonding time Maddie." Emmet says with a playing chuckle. Maddie rolls her eyes and locks her arm with Emmet and lays on his shoulder.
"Speaking of, how have you two been doing since we saw a you last?" Bob questions once all the laughter dies down.
"We've been good, still trying to get used to the compound." Emmet states, leaning his head atop Maddie's lazily.
"We've just been running for so long, it's nice to relax." Maddie adds with a slight nod.
"It's nice to be safe finally..." Jack says happily as he lightly kisses my cheek.
"Yeah..." I respond, letting my eyes stare out the window.
"And thanks again for giving us all this hospitality Shane." Wade says sincerely. Shane shakes his head with a smile on his face.
"It's my pleasure gentlemen, you don't need to thank me." Shane says in a very pleased tone. Suddenly the door opens and Elise stumbles her way inside, sitting next to me.
"Hello everyone, I apologize for my lateness." She says with a casual smile on her face.
"Don't worry about it." Mark says, just waving it off like it's nothing.
"Yeah, it's fine." I add, giving her a kind smile. She nods and the man who helped my inside stands outside the door.
"Do we have your leave sir?" He asks, giving a salute. I suppose we are important people to this compound, as we are just sitting here with Shane, their leader.
"Yes, let's be off." Shane declares with a swift nod of his head. The man outside closes the door and then the truck begins moving.
