~*10 Days Until The Wedding*~

I wake up and sleepily sit up in my bed, wiping sleep from my eyes. I slowly yawn and glance at my room with a small smirk. The reason is not a design or the smell, no, nothing like that. I smile because in the night someone had come in to my room and put a crib inside. A light pink color covers it as my child, Marisa is going to be a girl. I'm guessing that Shane put it here while I was asleep, after all he was the only one I told that I wanted one, just to feel like I was becoming a better mother. I smile lightly at the sight once more until I roll out of bed and gently put my feet on the ground. I push myself to stand and walk out of my room sleepily.
"-we can not do that, I will not allow it." I hear Shane's voice declare from downstairs.
"But the people deserve to know, especially because he could hurt someone or ruin everything we've built!" Another voice responds, and it sounds odly familiar, but I can't place it.
"I gave my orders and you will follow them. Do not tell anyone what we just discussed and go back to your office." Shane says sternly in a slightly loud tone.
"Fine, just remember that if someone gets hurt because if this, it's your fault." The other one says in a threatening tone before footsteps begin walking and the front door opens and the other person exits.
"I suppose I'll take that risk then..." Shane mumbles to himself as he still thinks I'm asleep.
"What risk?" I question loudly as I walk down the stairs towards him. I hear his footsteps echo through the clean house until Shane stands at the bottom of the stairs.
"Don't do that, you're not fully healed yet. I don't want you getting hurt, so just stay there and I'll get you down." He says, ignoring my question entirely.
"What were you talking about?" I repeat, stopping in my tracks on the stairs.
"Just wait..." Shane grumbles under his breath as he starts up the stairs to get me. I lean on the rail and eventually Shane carries me down to the living room we had been in yesterday.
"So, what risk were you talking about?" I question before Shane can even set me down on the couch.
"Stupid political problems with districts, don't worry about it, I can manage." Shane explains vaguely, finally setting me onto the couch with a gentle caution.
"I don't know if I believe that... You have a lot on your shoulders, just explain it to me, I can at least try to help." I say, just wanting to know the truth behind his words.
"I won't burden you with my problems you've had a rough few days, just relax." Shane argues as he sits casually on a couch across from me.
"Fine..." I finally agree knowing that I can't get much else out of him at this point. I mean, if he hasn't told me already, he's not going to.
"How'd you sleep?" Shane questions, changing the subject entirely.
"It was good to be out of the hospital, and I saw the crib... That was a nice touch." I add with a small smile.
"I thought you'd enjoy it so I ordered a team to go get you some things from a baby store outside the walls." Shane explains casually, now leaning back in the couch in a more relaxed way.
"Thanks, but I don't want to burden you with this too much, especially because she's not your kid..." I respond in a slight mumble.
"It isn't a burden, and I know that I don't have to... However, if I have the power to help I will and it doesn't bother me. After all, how else will you get all the supplies you need? Being a mother is a lot of work and you need a lot, which I'm glad to help with." Shane says with a kind smile. I nod in response.
"Well thank you... And you have a good point..." I add and then a loud knock pounds on the door.
"One moment please, I have to get this." Shane says as he straitens his tie and starts towards the door in a quick fashion. The front door creaks open and in just a few seconds after Shane walks away.
"Ah, well good morning to you as well." Shane says. Another person speaks, hut I can't really hear what they say or the voice at all.
"Yes, she is just in the other room, but if we're talking business we can in my study." Shane states in a slightly protective tone. The other person responds and then footsteps start in the house.
"Alright. I'll allow it, just know that she may not want to see you right now and I will obey her wishes for you." Shane declares and the footsteps continue.
"Good, I agree with that too." I hear the other person speak in a voice that I recognize all too well. Both figures of the visitor and Shane walk towards me and sit on the couch across from me.
"Hi..." I say to him in a slightly hushed tone.
"Hello Mrs. Lancaster." The small voice of Kyle speaks to me.
"Just call me Violet, I'm not married yet." I chuckle lightly, trying to calm the small boy.
"Oh, alright. I wanted to talk with you if you'll let me." Kyle states nervously, just like he had when he visited Shane and I the first time.
"Go ahead, and Shane, can you get me a glass of water? I'm feeling a little light headed this morning and I think that will help." I explain my lie. The truth is that I just wanted to talk to this kid without Shane guarding me.
"Yeah, I'll be right back." Shane says with a nod, I'm guessing he knee what I was doing. He walks out of the room and I hear his feet hit against the stairs. Yep, he got it.
"So, I wanted to ask you about what my brother did... If that's okay with you that is." Kyle says nervously, moving his hands around in his lap anxiously.
"It's all in the past for me, just ask." I state, adjusting myself on the couch to appear stronger than I feel right now. As soon as he mentioned Ian I could feel my stomach drop. Just the memory, knowing what he did to Jack and Mark... The memories still haunt me, but I've buried it to make myself move on, but today I'm digging them out I guess.
"How did he take you all? And where was it?" Kyle questions, well not the one I expected. However, I remember it vividly, as if the events had just only happened. I sigh heavily at the thoughts and feelings rushing through my head.
"He had been stalking one of my friends, Maddie. He found out where we were and tried negotiating with me to get her, but I refused and he took all of us instead. First, he fought with me, but one of his guys knocked me out and I lost. Then he started dragging all of my other friends and knocked us all out." I pause, just giving him a few seconds to process all the information of what his brother did.
"I'm so sorry for what he did to you, and I'm sorry for asking you, but I have no one else to ask. I have no other way to know what happened and I just need to know." Kyle explains with a heavy sigh.
"It's okay, I can answer your questions just fine. Just go ahead and ask." I state in a demanding tone, I suppose it's because I just want all of this to be done, because I really am sensitive to this topic.
"Alright, and I only have one last question... So, here it is; will you ever let him go?" Kyle asks with a mix of fear and hope inside his bright blue eyes that make them gleam in a way that could make me cringe. I look away quickly and stare at the wall, just trying to avoid giving the true answer. I know that I will never forgive him for what he did to us, and that Shane will never let him get out of that cell. I know that Ian will die in that cell and will never see the light of say ever again. As long as Shane has power here anyways, which will probably be a very long time. After all, Shane is very strong and careful with his actions and I'm sure he won't die easily. I take in a deep breath and look back to Kyle, who still has hope in his eyes. I have to answer him, and I'm not going to lie... So here's my answer.
"Shane won't ever let him go as long as he's in power. I won't let him. Listen, your brother is a terrible person who has done awful things, and I can not let him do that to anyone else as long as he lives. So he will stay there, locked away where no one can get hurt by him. I'm sorry kid, but that's the way it is." I state, crossing my arms over my chest and sitting up more on the couch.
"Well, thank you for answering my questions... I think I'll go now." Kyle says, his eyes draining of any happiness they previously had and his voice sounding almost dead inside. I hate to make him that way, but I'm not a liar, especially not to this kid.
"I'm sorry that's not what you wanted to hear... But I'll see you around." I say, I guess because I don't want him to be too upset.
"Yeah... See you around..." Kyle mumbles as he gets off the couch and walks out of the room.
