{still Gerard's P.O.V}

It was about two days later. Only Mikey had seen her. It was time to update everyone on the current situation.

"How about we have a BBQ later today?" I suggested to Lyn-z while she tended to our daughter.

"Invite people round, drink ice cold beer, eat some steak and show off our little star, sure!" Lyn-z said.

"Great! We could invite my parents and yours. I don't think they've seen each other since we announced you were pregnant. Have they? I questioned.

"Ermm. . . I don't think they have but they'd try compete to be the best grandparents and just get irritating and be all up in our faces." Lyn-z answered.

"Yeah, true. How about we invite one set then go to lunch with the other tomorrow? That sound okay?"

"Sure but which ones?"

"Heads or tales?" I asked.

"Tales" She answered.

I flipped a quarter.

"Sorry babe, my parents it is."

"You inviting the guys?"

I gave her a look of disbelief that she'd actually just questioned it.

"That's what I thought, can I invite my guys?"

"Yeah course, hunny why did you even have to ask?" I said hurt that she might think I'd say no or something against them.

"Okay, okay, chill your beans Gerard!" She said playfully.

<< 4:30 PM >>

People began arriving. Mikey first with Alicia his new girlfriend or something then Frank with Jamia followed by Ray and my parents. It was about 5 when Lyn-z's crew came through the back gate we'd left open. I think they all waited for each other because in one swoop they were all here. Jimmy, Steve and Jennifer came through each with their own beer and open arms for Lyn-z.

Frank helped me out on the grill. We tossed burgers and steaks. The only kid arround was Bandit who was sleeping in her crib with Lyn-z inside who was watching over her whilst staying sober so at least there'd be one responsible adult.

Bandit woke up beginning to cry out to let Lyn-z know she was hungry.

"Sshhhh baby girl. I know, I'm here. Shhh!" Lyn-z said peacefully in a calm and soothing voice. I was watching her as I stood in the doorway. She unbuttoned her shirt and began to feed Bandit.

"Wow, you are really hungry aren't you. You my little pumpkin, are so much like your daddy. Sleep and eat. All these people are out side all waiting to come and see you. Aren't you special!" The soothing voice continued as she fed Bandit until she stopped to be burped.

I walked over to them and surprised Lyn-z with a kiss from behind. She looked up at me for a split second smiling before repositioning Bandit so she could rub her back and burp her. I came round to the front of the sofa and crouched down to Bandit. I felt a smile coming across my face that reached ear to ear. I beamed at Bandit, she turned her head over to look at me. She smiled back at me and began to laugh. She was laughing! Adorable little giggles! Lyn-z and I were shocked but it was amazing. She was giggling at me. I tapped her little button nose "bloop!" I went. She giggled louder taking mine and Lyn-z's breath away.

We all went outside to where everyone stayed making awkward small talk. We stood hand in hand by the back door with Bandit in my other arm. Frank looked up from the grill first making it obvious we were there with something new and exciting and special. Mikey realised and came over with Alicia who had no idea.

"Congratulations Ge, Lyn-z, my little niece . . Little shotgun! She's beautiful" Mikey began.

Why'd he call her shotgun?

Everyone made their way over to us delighted with what had become the new family member.

The last to come over were Frank and Jamia. They'd swapped duties with Steve who started to serve up the food.

"Gerard, man, why didn't you tell us?" Frank asked trying to hide away the slight sence of hurt and disguised it with happyness for us.

"Frank!" Jamia wined as if to sort of tell him off for not being happier. "Congratulations you guys, she's beutiful! She's got your eyes Gerard!" She added.

I'd never really noticed that. I didn't think Lyn-z had either but she smiled and began to nod.

"Well dude, congratulations. Your gonna be a great dad. Congratulations Lyn-z, she's beutiful." Frank added. He basically reworded what Jamia had said but changed the compliment of her eyes onto my 'father-hood". It sort of peeved me off. How he had nothing to say. After all we've been through.

My parents waited till everyone had been up to meet Bandit so they could stay a little longer with us.

"Gerard!" Mom said walking over in a loving, soft voice with dad by her side smiling.

"Mom!" I replied in the same voice she used!

She gave me a kiss and then gave all of her attention to Bandit meanwhile dad was giving Lyn-z an awkward sort of hug.

They then swapped duties.

"Son!" Dad said breaking away from Lyn-z's hug and coming over to me.

"Hey dad!" I said back to him as he stood before me.

Mom and Lyn-z were chatting, I think they were talking about the birth. Dad was asking me all sorts of questions, "How heavy was she?", "What's my first little grandchilds name huh?", "How are you finding the early mornings?", "you are helping out too aren't you?". I gave simple answers to all of them as I noticed Lyn-z and my mom were done chatting and just looking at Bandit's twinkling, hazel eyes as the sun beat down on the whole party in our back yard.

We decided against seeing Lyn-z's parents tomorrow and instead In a few days after today's exhausting BBQ.
