The Volume of Words

If I were not shouting
Would I ever be heard
By those who speak more loudly
To make others hear their words?
If I didn't yell from rooftops
Would my words fly in the wind
To land upon the ears of those
Who might learn to listen?
But maybe that's what I must learn,
To turn my own voice off.
Sometimes the loudest words are heard
In a voice so soft.
