I snuck out of the dragon's lair
The one who held my chain
I left with few belongings, bare
And taught myself to reign
No more obeying cruel demands
Or sobbing at his feet
I taught myself to command
And who I wanted to be
No more damsel in distress
I'd never be caught again
I'd never let myself be treated less
And no more entering dragon dens
Real princesses save themselves
They know enough is enough
They can pull themselves up out of hell
And learn how to be tough
So after dusting off my knees
And changing into my gown
I taught myself how to rule
And then I owned that crown
