Chapter Seventeen

Third Person

The Red Moon pack felt the link become cut off. Everyone knew what had happened. Everyone could feel the loss of their Luna.

Especially Daniel.

**flashback**

He howled and everyone was now on red alert. Daniel mind linked everyone that their Luna was missing and his rouge of a brother was after her.

That's when the pain hit him. His back weakened and he dropped to his knees. The pain sliced through his back. Without the full mating ritual, he shouldn't feel this pain but his mate was human, it was different. Another strike against his back. If the pain made him weak, the pain must be worse for his mate. He transformed back into his human form when he felt the next strike.

Richard came up to him and noticed his agony. He helped him up to his feet and carry him into a taxi. Although no obvious scars or bruises were on Daniel's body, the pain striked him from the inside out making it unbearable.

The whips of pain stopped and Daniel felt relieved for a bit. Also knowing his mate was no longer in pain or abuse. He worried where his mate could be. This time he knew he lost her for sure and had no clue where to find her especially in this blizzard winter weather.

After hours and hours of ordering his strongest pack warriors to keep searching the area, he felt warm. He instantly thought of Felicia's heat. The first week of the heat was the worst because it was the strongest, the longest and most unbearable pain. Felicia being human, the heat would intensify and eventually kill her if not relieved soon.

Daniel went out to search for Felicia in the winter storm. He caught traces of her scent but it was swept away with the wind. He could hear the cries of his mate echoing in the wind making him cringe at the pain and sorrow. There was at one point that he heard his name get called out. He trusted his instinct and called back to her. It was useless in this winter storm.

He was mad crazy looking for his mate. He wouldn't be able to look into her brothers' eyes and say he lost her. They would surely murder him and in his sorrow, he'd let them murder.

Hours later, he felt the little bond that kept him fighting to find her break. It felt like a twig that snapped. He could feel the empty feeling in his heart.

Daniel knew what happened.

Felicia was gone. He howled into the wind in his sorrow. The whole pack spread across cities could sense his sorrow and hear his desperate cry. They also felt the lost of their Luna.

**flashback over**

It was a week after Felicia's bond had broken.

Her brothers had beaten Daniel up mercilessly and went to the police for help. Knowing Daniel and the werewolf community, because the officer in charge was a werewolf, he told Felicia's brothers there was nothing they could do. There was no crime scene to investigate and gather clues. It was truly like Felicia had vanished off the edge of the earth.

There was no more scent after the blizzard left. The pack house was clean of her scent and all other werewolf scents. The pack searched for their Luna for days following. She was never found.

Daniel felt awful. He betrayed his pack, his family and Felicia's family. He never would expect anyone to forgive him for losing his mate and their Luna.
