Zak POV.
Us men? We were not the stronger sex, that shit was for sure when I saw Maria give birth to my son. She gave her all for him and when she knew we had a little boy. She gave up.
I had turned to tell her he's beautiful but she whispered I loved you and then all hell broke lose. Through the mist of shouting and chaos my son was taken, we were pushed from the room and my wife was now alone and fighting on her own.
"What's happening?!" I shouted.
"Sir your wife needs immediate care, please we are doing all that we can but I must ask you to stay here." A nurse spoke.
"Imm- immediate care?! She's going to be alright though?" I asked looking at the small woman.
She gave me a sympathetic look, I knew it meant no.
"I need to see her!" I snapped.
"Zak! Go." My mom spoke pulling me away from the doors.
"What?! I'm not leaving without her!"
"Do as she says! I'll stay! Go to him Zak, he needs his dad. Maria asked that of you and if things.... Please just go." She answered.
"My s- my son! Where did he go?!"
"Neonat-"
I took off running down the corridors, eyes searching frantically for signs when I bumped into a doctor.
"Neonatal?! Please! My son!"
"Straight down, on your right." He answered.
As I got there and fell into the room I was met with babies.. Babies and machines. The whole room was silent apart from the labour breathing and beats.
"Sir?" A nurse in lavender uniform came over, her soft look made her perfect for this job.
"I've lost him too.. Haven't I?"
"Name?" She asked quietly.
"He hasn't got one... Oh god." I panicked.
"Your surname sweetheart. One step at a time."
"B-Bagans."
"Bagans. He's just came in." She gave me a small smile and took me to a set of seats outside the room.
"They need to prep him first. Being a premature newborn he needs some help, right now their main focus is his breathing. It will be very harrowing to see but there will be a lot of wires and machines."
"Can I hold him?"
"It's better at this moment in time for baby to be incubated as well, at this moment in time baby is at risk of infection and hyperthermia." She explained.
"Is he going to be okay?"
"One step at a time." She softly answered again.
"I left her... My wife." I answered twisting my ring nervously.
"Your wife is in good hands here at this hospital. The doctors will be along soon, you must remain calm, I know it's hard, but it's also for the best." She explained.
I nodded and looked at the incubators through the window, my son was going to be placed in a plastic case before I could even touch him.
"I want Maria." I broke down hiding my face in embarrassment. She gave my arm a gentle pat "Even God took 6 days to make the earth.. Things don't go to plan, but turn out in the most beautifulest of ways in the days to come. Your wife and son are in good hands." She reassured me before leaving.
