"What is it, Alice?" I asked after we had walked outside.

She stood there and stared at me.

"I'm not a mind reader." I blinked and added, "anymore."

She rolled her eyes, but kept staring at me.

"Alice, what's going on?" Esme asked, coming out of the house.

"Aleena knows." She said, cocking her head to one side.

"Uh, no, I don't."

"Alice…" Esme said.

"Ugh." Alice rolled her eyes. "Fine." She looked from Esme to me.

She still didn't speak.

"What is it?" I asked impatiently, crossing my arms.

She took a deep breath, which was pointless because she was a vampire.

"I…saw…something…"

"Alice." I said, more impatiently.

"You have to say yes. No matter what."

I scrunched my eyebrows together. "Okay…?"

"Just promise me you'll say yes, okay?" she stared into my eyes.

"Okay." I nodded. "Fine. I'll say yes." I looked from Esme back to her. "What…exactly am I saying yes to?"

"You can't know yet!" she turned and ran off before I could say anything else.

"Alice!" I hissed, even though she was long gone.

I looked at Esme. "Do you know what she's talking about?"

She shook her head. "Sorry, sweetie."

I sighed.

"Why don't you come inside and have some pancakes?" she said.

I nodded. "Yeah."
