Chapter Eighty ~Aleena~

I woke up in a very uncomfortable spot.

When I opened my eyes, I saw why I was so uncomfortable.

Rosalie was holding me.

"Rose?" I said, my voice hoarse. I cleared my throat.

"Aleena?! Oh, God! You're awake!" she said, hugging me.

"What happened?" I asked when I could breathe again.

Then I saw Seth laying on the ground, blood pooled around him.

"What's going on?" I jumped down from Rosalie's arms.

I started walking towards Seth, but Alice grabbed my arm.

"Alice, what is going— " I stopped when I looked her in the eye.

She looked so sad.

"Is he— " I couldn't say it.

"We don't know. We haven't checked yet."

"Then, why are you so sad?"

She stepped to the side.

Edward was laying on the ground, a chunk of his right forearm missing.

"What happened? What did he— "

"Yes. What did happen?" Aro walked in.

"Aro?"

"That would be me." He looked at me with his milky red eyes.

I turned to Alice. "What— " then I remembered.

Me running off the cliff.

Heidi biting Seth's neck.

Jane laughing and walking off into the dark.

Me biting Seth's neck to get Heidi's venom out.

With wide eyes, I asked Alice, "Am I…a vampire?"

Aro laughed.

"No, you gifted little human. You are not. Edward here made sure of that."

I furrowed my brow. "What do you— "

"He means that you were a vampire, but Edward removed the venom from your blood stream." Bella said. She looked devastated.

I gasped.

"So, is Edward…" I trailed off.

"No, I'm not dead." Edward himself said, moving to sit up.

Bella and Renesmee helped him.

"But what about Seth?" Jasper asked quietly.

I whirled around.

Seth hadn't moved.

"Seth." I whispered quietly, then ran over to him.

Kneeling next to him, I started crying.

"Seth! Please! You can't be dead! After all that we've been through, you can't be! I need you, Seth!" I took his limp hand into mine.

I squeezed his hand and placed my forehead on it. "Seth, please! I need you so much right now!" breathing deeply, I whispered, "You said you'd always be here for me."

"And I always will." I heard.

I looked up. "Seth?" I whispered.

He slowly opened his eyes. "That's me." He said quietly, grinning his signature grin.

"Oh, Seth!" I pulled him into a hug.

"Ouch." He said.

I let go. "I'm sorry!"

He huffed a laugh and said, "It's fine, Lee. I'm alive, you're alive, we're all alive. Everything is fine."

"Not so much." Jane said, walking in and standing beside Aro.

We both looked at her.

"What are you talking about?" I asked Jane.

She walked forward until Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie growled.

"You still have to join us."

"No." Edward snapped.

We all looked at him.

"She absolutely cannot be a vampire."

"No, she can't." Alice said.

I looked at Jane.

She looked furious.

"Why…not?" she said, trying to contain her anger.

"There is no way to control her." Carlisle said, stepping forward with Esme at his side.

"I read her thoughts; she only thought about getting the rest of us out of her 'territory'." Edward said. "And Jasper read her feelings."

"All that was there were hate and anger."

"She didn't recognize any of us." Alice said.

I stood up.

"Stop!" I said. "Just…stop, okay? I'm right here; stop talking like I'm not." I walked towards Aro. Sticking my wrist in his face, I said, "You want your gift back? Bite me."

And so…Aro bit me.
