I thought that having vampire venom in my blood stream was one of the most painful things ever.

Until Aleena started to remove it.

I convulsed in pain, still unable to willingly make noise or open my eyes.

Even though it was painful, I could feel myself getting stronger as the venom left my body.

Soon enough I could make noise.

So, I yelled.

Then I could move.

I ripped through the ropes that were around my wrists.

I threw Aleena off of me.

She flew across the room and landed in a slump against the wall.

"Aleena?" I said, my voice hoarse.

She didn't move.

Panicking, I tried to stand up. My legs were too weak.

I crawled over to her and untied her wrists so she wouldn't be as uncomfortable laying on the floor.

"Aleena." I held her face in my hands.

It was ice-cold and on fire at the same time.

"Aleena, please!" I checked for a pulse. There was a faint, but steady one. And it seemed to be speeding up.

"Aleena?" I put my ear in front of her mouth.

Her breathing was irregular. And it seemed to be slowing down, the breaths getting further apart.

I gasped.

She was dying.

"Aleena, no!" I yelled.

"What the hell is going on in here?" Alec asked after bursting in.

I looked at him, squinting through the light.

He saw me bent over Aleena.

His eyes widened. "What did you do?" he shrieked.

He turned. "Jane!" he yelled, then ran off, the door swinging shut.

I looked back at Aleena.

"Aleena," I said in a low voice. "Aleena, please! I need you to wake up!"

Very slowly, Aleena opened her eyes.

They weren't blood-red or hazel.

They were golden-yellow, the color of the Cullens' eyes.

When she looked at me, it was like she didn't recognize me at all.

She grabbed my wrists and flung me on the ground.

Baring her teeth and growling, she leaned towards my neck, opposite where Heidi had bitten.

Too stunned to yell, or do anything really, I just laid there, panting, trying to speak to get Aleena off of me.

She bit my neck, and the next thing I knew, I was floating in darkness; not for the first time since I had met Aleena.

I thought I saw some of the Volturi run in, but I wasn't sure; I passed out completely.

((A/N: the next chapter is in a 'surprise' point of view!!! :) ))
