CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Fury had shocked me a few too many times, my chin was pressed into my chest, breathing heavy.

"Are you done yet?" I panted.

Sweat dripped from my face.

"Just remember this if you ever want to defy S.H.I.E.L.D. again."

"I have never defied the Avengers!" I yelled.

"If that's what you say." He smirked and left the room.

Immediately Thor stopped him.

"What did you do to her?" He demanded.

"Nothing that she can't sleep off." Fury growled and left.

Thor burst into the room.

"Banner!" Thor bellowed then ran over, untied me, then picked me up. "Small one, did Fury do this to you?"

"C-Collar." I panted and tried yet again to pry it off.

"Thor why are you— Oh my God." Dr. Banner ran and stopped when he saw me.

"Hello." I gave him a small wave.

Once we reached the medical floor I spoke again.

"Let me see the Man of Iron." I demanded.

"You are too weak."

"Let me see him. I have been told multiple times that I was the one that attacked him. I need to know."

Thor glanced over to Banner, who just sighed and nodded.

"I believe that I am able to walk."

He lightly set me down, my legs were shaking horribly but I managed to stumble over to the nearest bed. Iron man laid there, unconscious. His skin was off, except the chestplate.

His arc reactor was horribly shattered, it looked like they had tried to take the chest plate off but there was a handprint in the middle.

I placed my hand in the dent, it was a perfect fit.

"What can I help with?" I questioned Dr. Banner.

"I can't get his chest piece off." He rubbed his face.

"Sit him up."

He did as I said and I gripped the neck area of his chestplate and ripped it off.

"My h-human can f-fix t-this." I panted, pointing to his arc reactor. "I-I u-used t-too mu-much pow-power." I set the two halves of the chest plate on the end of the bed and fell.

Hours later I woke up in my room, kind of refreshed. I went down to the kitchen and grabbed an apple, I flew up to the counter and sat cross-legged.

"Where are the others?" I thought aloud.

It was worth a try, I closed my eyes, and seeked out all of the voices of the building.

"-- right? I say we try it."

"No way, that's crazy!"

"I agree, that sounds like suicide."

"But it could work."

"If it means saving Tony then let's do it."

"Are we in agreement? That we should do it?"

"Yeah."

"Sure."

"What could go wrong?"

"Literally everything."
