Evangeline's eyes shot open. Light poured into the room through silk curtains as she slowly pulled herself up into the sitting position. Letting out a soft groan, she moved to rub the sleep from her eyes and soon discovered metal handcuffs on her wrists.

"Oh look, she's awake." A female voice was heard from the hallway.

Evangeline's head spun towards the voice, spotting a familiar blonde leaning against the doorframe.

"Rebekah!" She whispered incredulously.

"She knows who we are."  Rebekah chuckled, walking towards the couch where Evangeline now sat.

"Yes, it seems that she's gotten all of her facts from this book." Evangeline spun around to see Elijah sitting in a chair reading her mother's journal.

She quickly jumped up from the couch, fear coursing through her veins. She had forgotten to lock it.

"Where did you get that?"

"I found it with your things." Elijah replied smoothly, not looking up from the page he was reading.

"You went through my bag?" Evangeline gasped, a mixture of anger and terror running through her. "For someone who prides himself on honorability I would think you would've been more polite."

"I see you've read this then."

"I have, and it belongs to me, which is why you have no right to be reading its contents."

"Indeed it does belong to you, doll, but my brother was simply curious as to why this journal has fallen into your hands, given that it does contain information on our family."

Fear coursed through Evangeline's veins and into her very soul as Niklaus Mikaelson walked into the room. He paced over behind Elijah, scanning the pages of the book with an intense stare. Out of pure terror and shock, she stumbled backwards, cowering against the wall nearest to her.

"This book is exquisite." Elijah spoke in awe. "Every little fact and detail on our family is entirely correct."

"What about me?" Niklaus asked, waiting as Elijah flipped through the pages and found the one with his brother's name written across it.  Niklaus ran his finger along the letters before scanning over the information written there. "This is unnervingly accurate."

Elijah turned towards Evangeline, his eyes scanning over her stiff form. Niklaus and Rebekah soon followed, all three siblings watching as she cowered opposite of them.

"Where did you retrieve this book?" Niklaus demanded. When she didn't answer, he stormed towards the young girl. "Tell me!"

Elijah stood up abruptly, catching his brother by the forearm. "Niklaus, mind your manners. Did you forget what I told you of her?"

"Half witch, half vampire. I don't care if she's a bloody demon. I want to know where she got this book! Elijah, do you realize what could've happened if it were to have fallen into the wrong hands?!"

"I am well aware of the consequences, Niklaus." Elijah replied, his eyes trailing over me. "But to get the answers we seek, we first must treat our guest with kindness and respect."

"Always such the gentleman." Rebekah rolled her eyes. "For once, I'm with Nik. I want to know where the girl got this book and why she has it."

"You won't find out." Evangeline whispered inaudibly, but the three siblings seemed to have heard her quite clearly.

"Who gave you the bloody book, child?" Rebekah hissed.

"Dear sister, do not stoop down to the level Niklaus has. We are to reason with her rationally and calmly." Elijah spoke calmly.

"While you sit here and rationalize with her, Marcel could be planning our demise!" Rebekah replied angrily.

"Our sister is right, Elijah." Niklaus growled. "If Marcel is looking for her, who's to know if he's looking for this book too?"

"He doesn't know it exists." Evangeline spoke up. "I made sure of it."

"You expect us to trust your word?" Niklaus laughed loudly. "How do we know you're not sent in by Marcel to kill us all?"

"I'm telling the truth."

"I say we tie her up with vervain and torture the truth out of her."

"Niklaus, we will do none of the sort." Elijah cut him off.

"Elijah, we aren't going to get any answers from her in this state." Klaus pushed by his brother and came towards her.

Evangeline upturned her wrist in fear, concentrating on his blood. But he continued forward, pushing her small body up against the wall with a snarl.

"My magic." Evangeline whimpered. "Why isn't it working?"

"We've handicapped you, pet." Niklaus chuckled evilly. "Those handcuffs block all source of magic."

"No." She struggled against his harsh grip. "You bastard."

Her comment seemed to turn him into a raving monster. He snarled viciously, pinning her down and sinking his fangs into her fragile neck. Evangeline let out a loud cry in pain.

"Niklaus, let her go." Elijah warned.

"Nik, come on, play fair." Rebekah paused, seeing Evangeline's body weaken from the intrusion of the werewolf venom in her veins.

"Niklaus!" Elijah said again, watching as the hybrid continued to drink, the color slowly beginning to drain from the girl's face.

"Really?!" A new voice was heard from the hallway and the three original siblings turned their heads. "I'm gone for three hours and you've already prepped to kill the poor girl. Real classy, Nik."

Evangeline tilted her head slightly, and she knew who it was with just one glance at his face.

"Kol, stop joking around and tell Niklaus how stupid he's being by threatening a vampire witch." Rebekah growled.

"Come on, Nik, let the poor girl go." Kol sighed, placing a hand on the hybrid's shoulder.

"She has information we need." Klaus barked, removing his mouth from her neck and pressing Evangeline harder into the wall.

"Well, you're not going to get it by killing her!"

Elijah and Kol attempted to grabbed Niklaus by the shoulders, but the hybrid merely shrugged them off.

"Nik! Stop!" Rebekah curled her fingers around his bicep, but he pushed her aside as well.

It wasn't until the figure of a young female in the hallway caused him to turn his menacing glare away from the wounded vampire witch.

"Klaus." The woman spoke, turning her palm up to the ceiling. "Stop."

Niklaus suddenly fell to the ground, his hands clinging to his head.

"Freya!" He howled. "Stop that this instant!"

"Calm down and I will."

Evangeline, too, had fallen to the floor when the woman named Freya used her magic on Niklaus. She sat with her heart racing and her entire body trembling. Elijah stepped closer, squatting down beside her and placing a reassuring hand on her back.

"Niklaus, we told you to watch your temper." He scolded, slowly tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear. "Freya, take care of our brother while I clean her up."
