Evangeline awoke to find an empty bed. Rolling over and resting lightly on her elbows, she closed her eyes and listened for movement around the house. Instantly, she heard the soft sound of the piano, and her lips turned up in a smile. Slipping off the bed and wrapping the top blanket around her bare body, Evangeline made her way down the stairs. As she walked down the hallway, dragging the comforter behind her, she soon spotted Elijah seated at the large grand piano on the other side of the living room. He was sitting in just a pair of boxers, and his arm muscles flexed as he played the beautiful keys, the sound coming from them nothing but sweet and melodic.

Evangeline leaned against the doorframe, not wanting to interrupt him, but rather to watch him in awe. As the sounds of the sweet music filled her ears, she couldn't help but feel overcome with happiness. The man before her, despite what they had gone through, claimed to love her, to truly love her. She still was incredulous over the fact, and didn't seem to let it fully sink into her brain. But now watching him, peaceful and serene, she let the thought hover. As it did so, she felt a large smile rest permanently on her lips. She was happy. Beyond happy.

As Elijah played, he could hear Evangeline's soft footfalls as she came down the stairs. The corners of his lips turned up as he heard her approach, continuing to play despite the fact. His fingers seemed to dance over the keys as he played the song he had heard on the radio dozens of times, somehow quickly learning the notes and picking it up instantly. The storyline behind the beautiful tune was what caught his ear in the first place. He remembered hearing it for the first time. Rebekah had the radio on one morning, and those very lyrics, the ones of finding the perfect girl, only made him think of one person. Evangeline. As he played, he heard the words in his head, and pictured the last day with her. It had truly been a perfect evening with a perfect girl. As he began to bring the song to a close, he sensed Evangeline moving closer. Playing the last few notes, he grinned, feeling her arms slide around his neck as she rested her chin on the top of his head. When the song ended, he finally turned to look up at her.

"I didn't know you played." Evangeline whispered softly, reaching back up to play with the short hair at the bottom of his neck.

"It became a hobby of mine over the last thousand years." He replied, his eyes glazing over at the sight of her wrapped in nothing but the comforter.

"It was beautiful." She praised, placing her hand on his shoulder as she slid onto his lap.

"You're beautiful." Elijah purred, running his hands over the material covering her shoulders and gently nudging it off.

As he leaned in to attach their lips in a passionate kiss, Evangeline allowed the comforter to fall around her, leaving her body exposed. The two continued to kiss, holding each other close, and enjoying the moment while it lasted. When Elijah slid Evangeline's legs around his torso and stood up, she placed sweet pecks along his jawline as they returned to his room, now very awake and ready for round two.

When then sunlight began to peak through the curtains in the early hours of the morning, Evangeline and Elijah slowly began to stir from their entangled position on the bed. Not ready to get up yet, Evangeline snuggled closer against Elijah and, rather quickly, fell asleep again. As he laid beside her watching her body rise and fall as she breathed, he smiled happily.

After an hour of watching Evangeline sleep, Elijah finally forced himself to get up and start the day. Going downstairs to start the coffee maker, he listened, patiently waiting for her to come downstairs and join him. It didn't take long for Evangeline to noticed that he left, for less than ten minutes later, she came down in nothing but his blue dress shirt, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"Good morning." Elijah greeted, chuckling at how cute she looked just waking up. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yes." Evangeline nodded. "The best I've had in awhile."

"I'm glad." He replied, handing her a coffee cup. "Your morning tea, darling."

"Thank you." She giggled, taking the cup from his hand and standing on her tippy toes to kiss him on the cheek.

"You're very welcome."

Evangeline moved to seat herself at the kitchen table, watching as Elijah poured himself a cup of coffee and headed over towards her. Setting his cup down on the surface, he then wrapped his arms around her shoulders and placed a sweet kiss on her cheek.

"So, my love, what is the plan for today?"

"Well, Freya and the others don't get back until tomorrow morning, so we still have the house to ourselves."

"And what would you like to do?"

"I get to choose?" Evangeline asked excitedly.

"Of course." Elijah chuckled. "Whatever you want to do, I will, most likely, say yes."

"In that case, can I try my first hand at those cheesy chick flicks Rebekah was talking about the other day?"

"If that's what you wish." Elijah sighed, shaking his head.

"You're the best." Evangeline laughed, turning her head to kiss him on the jaw, before rising from her seat and venturing into the living room. As she noticed the discarded comforter on the floor near the piano, she let out a giggle. "I forgot we left this down here."

"I much enjoyed you without the comforter wrapped around your beautiful body." Elijah eyed the material on the ground and snagged it between his fingers.

"Stop it." Evangeline blushed madly, attempting to play off her embarrassment as she seated herself on the couch.

Elijah simply smiled, handing her the comforter before putting in one of the many movies his younger sister owned. After he snuggled in beside Evangeline, Elijah pulled her close, and before long, the day flew by, both vampires asleep in each other's arms as the sun set behind the trees in the bay window behind them.
