Evangeline's eyes met the little pink lines and her heart dropped.
Pregnant.
She slowly exited the bathroom, her eyes barely meeting Rebekah and Freya's as she entered the bedroom, the test clutched tightly in her hands.
"Well?" Rebekah asked quickly, fiddling with her hands. "What did it say?"
Not being able to fully speak yet, Evangeline shakily handed the test to the sisters, watching as both of their faces lit up at the results. Both Rebekah and Freya began to cheer, tears spilling from their eyes as they embraced her. Feeling the reality of the situation, Evangeline finally started to cry, the idea of a small little baby growing inside of her settling prominently in her brain. As the girls embraced one another, Evangeline heard footsteps rushing up the stairs, followed by the worried faces of Elijah, Klaus, and Kol. Kol gave her a bright smile, and Evangeline knew he knew.
"I'm assuming this is good news." Kol grinned, watching as Freya and Rebekah nodded enthusiastically.
Elijah stood confused beside Klaus, unaware of the fact that his life was going to change forever.
"What's going on?" Elijah asked, turning to look at Evangeline for answers. "Are you okay?"
"Should I?" Rebekah asked Evangeline, gesturing towards the test. Evangeline nodded.
As Rebekah handed the small object to her brother, all watched as he stared at it with a blank look before recognition dawned on his face. He looked up, staring at Evangeline with an expression that was completely unreadable. The moment a large grin spread out across his face, Evangeline breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'm going to be a father?" Elijah asked quietly.
"Yes." Evangeline whispered, speaking for the first time since she saw the test results.
In seconds, Elijah had crossed the room and gathered Evangeline into his arms, picking her up and spinning her around the room before setting her back down and pulling her in for a passionate kiss. However, even with his happiness, Evangeline felt an abundance of worry and fear wash over her entire being as Elijah embraced her.
"I can't believe I'm going to be a father!" He exclaimed, hugging her tightly. "We're going to be parents!"
Evangeline felt herself began to tremble in his arms, something to which Elijah took a quick notice to.
"Darling, what's wrong?" Elijah brushed the tears from her cheeks as she become overcome with emotion.
"I'm pregnant, Elijah. I am seventeen years old and I am pregnant with an original vampire's child!" Evangeline sobbed. "I'm not ready to be a mother, nor do I even know how to begin the process of becoming one! I just started to care for myself! How am I supposed to now care for a child! This is everything against what my mother wanted for me! Now I'm not only putting myself in danger, but this baby as well! What happens when Marcel finds out? Oh god, Marcel!"
"Hey, hey, hey, listen to me." Elijah caught her attention, gently grasping Evangeline's chin and making her look up at him. "First of all, your pregnancy with this child is an absolute miracle. I never thought I would ever get the chance to have a child of my own, and you have blessed me with that opportunity. You are going to be an amazing mother. Do you know how I know that? Because you have maternal instincts. Just look at how quick you were to protect this family when Marcel sent his vampires after you! You are going to be the best mother to our child, and remember, you are not alone. You have all of us by your side to help, love, and care for our baby, and I can promise you that we can do this, together. Marcel won't lay a finger on this family."
"Family?" Evangeline whispered quietly.
"Family." Elijah nodded. "Always and forever."
"That officially applies to you now." Rebekah grinned.

Evangeline laid silently in the bed that night simply staring at the ceiling as Elijah busied himself getting ready. As he walked by, grabbing his pajamas, he took a quick notice to her behavior. Sighing deeply and realizing that she was still stressed out about the baby, he finished what he was doing and climbed into the bed, wrapping Evangeline in his arms and pulling her against him.
"My love, please don't be saddened by this. A baby is supposed to be joyous, not a hardship."
"I know." Evangeline whispered quietly. "But I can't help but think of everything that could and has gone wrong. Like I said earlier, I can't take care of a baby. I wouldn't even know where to start. The truth is, I'm scared, Elijah. I can't do this on my own."
"Evangeline, you are not alone, nor will you ever be. I will be right by your side every day supporting you and our child throughout whatever we may go through." Elijah gently cupped the side of her face, gently kissing her forehead. "We will do this together. Always and forever."
"But what if-" Evangeline began but Elijah cut her off with a chaste kiss on the lips.
"Hush, darling. Please don't stress over this any longer. I can't stand to see you this way."
"I'm sorry. I wish I could just let this go, but I can't seem to."
"Maybe a good night's sleep will help ease your mind." Elijah suggested as she snuggled in closer to him.
"Yeah, maybe."
Although Evangeline wanted to believe sleep would help her, she knew it never would. The feeling of guilt was too strong. It resonated deep within her gut and spread over her entire body. She felt as if she were wearing an invisible chain, the cold, hard metal weighing her down and serving as a constant reminder of the fact that she had disobeyed her mother. As she lay beside Elijah, Evangeline felt like her mind was at war, while her body churned inside. As much wanted to enjoy the fact that she was now pregnant with the child of the man that she loved, the imagine of Céleste was too strong, and that night, she fell into a restless sleep filled with her mother's haunting voice echoing in her head.
