"Freya tells me your power grows stronger within each day." Elijah spoke calmly to Evangeline as she stood in front of where he and Klaus sat on the couch.
"It does." Evangeline responded wearily, her eyes trailing towards the hybrid.
Elijah sensed her uneasiness and turned towards his brother. "Niklaus, I believe Rebekah needs some help in the kitchen making dinner."
Klaus looked over at Evangeline and rolled his eyes. "Well, I know when I'm not wanted."
Evangeline watched quietly as Klaus rose from the couch and disappeared into the other room.
"Thank you." She whispered, finally sitting down beside Elijah.
"You're welcome. I understand that he still makes you feel a bit uncomfortable."
"I've read so many terrible things about him, about all of you." She began. "Where the rest of you proved my original thoughts wrong, he managed to be the exact person my mother described him to be."
"Niklaus never fails to proceed his reputation." Elijah sighed. "But I'm glad to know that you now feel comfortable around the rest of us."
"I'm starting to. You, Rebekah, and Freya have made me feel welcome and safe. I appreciate it."
"I made a vow to protect you, and I promise to uphold it. Rebekah and Freya seem to see you as a little sister, and it's nice to see their moods have brightened since your arrival."
"It is very sweet of them to act so kind, especially Freya. Since my mother died, I haven't received any training, but she's willing to help me so easily."
"We want to make sure you can defend yourself, but from what my sister said, it sounds like you already can." Elijah chuckled.
"I think you Mikaelsons forget that I was trained by many of the elders of New Orleans. My mother, Bastianna Natale, Agnes, and even Josephine LaRue for a time."
"That explains how you were able to take down an entire vampire army."
"Well that, and I was able to channel the power from my immortal body."
"Freya mentioned you had the power to siphon magic." Elijah nodded, leaning against the couch and resting his arms on the back of it.
Evangeline instantly froze, knowing that if she were to have leaned back, he would've technically had an arm around her. Luckily, Freya walked in with Kol by her side, breaking the tension.
"Hello, brother." Freya greeted, nodding towards Elijah who sent her a soft smile. "Evangeline, would you like to train today? Kol has offered to help out if you're interested. I'm sure you know that he was once a powerful witch himself before our mother turned him."
"I'd be happy to offer some advice." Kol gave her a genuine smile, but there was a hint of a smirk underneath. "Whether it be in magic, or maybe even in the bedroom."
Evangeline gasped, her eyes widening as Freya punched Kol in the arm. Elijah sat up, obviously sensing her uncomfortable state, and placed a reassuring hand on the small of her back. Evangeline shivered at the feeling of his large hand splayed against her, the heat from his fingers causing butterflies to erupt in her stomach.
"Brother, please." Elijah spoke calmly. "Immaturity is not what we need right now."
"Come on, Elijah. You're no fun." Kol chuckled, turning his attention to and rubbing his arm where Freya had socked him. "For a human, sis, that really hurt."
Freya rolled her eyes. "Keep that in mind the next time you decide to say something perverted."
"I guess I'll be having a lot of bruises on my arms then, because that is never going to happen." Kol grinned. "I'm the most perverted man alive."
Freya sighed, turning on her heal and heading down the hallway. "Come on, Evangeline. Let's get started. Kol, if you choose to come, it's without any comments. You hear me?"
Evangeline saw Kol roll his eyes as she stood from the couch and followed Freya.
"Yes, little miss bossy pants." Kol chuckled, following closely behind as they entered the backyard.

Elijah watched from inside of the house as Evangeline ignited a ball of fire in her palm and prepped to throw it at his youngest brother. A hint of an impressed smile lined his lips and it did not go unnoticed by Rebekah, who was walking by on her way to the kitchen.
"Nik was right, brother." She smiled, walking up beside him. "You clearly are infatuated with the girl."
"Rebekah, I don't have time for your jokes, nor do I know why you chose to believe our brother's imbecile thoughts over mine."
"You're always so wise about everyone but yourself. If you can't see your infatuation, I won't pester you about it anymore."
"Thank you." Elijah sighed. "And for the record, there is no infatuation. I just simply took a liking to the girl, and I feel the need to take care of her, due to the fact that she is indeed Céleste's daughter."
"Okay." Rebekah knew better, but she let it lie. "I'm going to finish up dinner with Nik in the kitchen. Will you tell them to be inside in five?"
"Of course." Elijah replied, grasping the patio door handle and pulling it open.
Elijah stepped out onto the porch and his ears were immediately met with the sounds of sweet laughter. He smiled warmly as he recognized Freya's laugh, but the sounds coming from Evangeline were the ones that seemed to warm his closed off heart. He watched for a moment as Evangeline and his sister were doubled over, giggling as Kol picked himself off the ground with a wicked smile. Evangeline had obviously used her magic on him, and the fact that she had knocked an original vampire to his feet impressed Elijah. After a few minutes of watching them, he slowly called out to them, knowing Evangeline and Kol would hear him from a distance.
"Alright you three, I know you're having a good time, but Rebekah will kick our asses if we're not at the dinner table by the time she's set the food out."
Kol turned, showing Elijah that he had registered his words. "Of course. We couldn't possibly anger the queen."
