Klaus Mikaelson stood by the living room window, his insides churning. As much as he hated to admit it, ever since Evangeline had gotten pregnant, a little bit of him felt for the girl after seeing Hayley go through the same thing seven years ago with Hope. He refused to let anyone else know of his slow change of heart, but he began to grow weary as the night pressed on and Marcel and his men grew closer. He didn't fully approve of Evangeline and her lineage, but he also knew how much she meant to his family, and to Elijah, and he didn't want to see them hurt if something were to happen to her. He watched wearily as Rebekah and Kol ran back and forth between the dining room and the basement, bringing back supplies for Freya as she set up a boundary spell. Klaus quickly noticed his older sister's drooping form as she worked, and he knew she wouldn't last much longer. Striding across the room to meet her, he gently rested a reassuring hand on Freya's shoulder, capturing her attention.

"Sister, you're going to hurt yourself if you continue further."

"I have to put up this spell, Klaus." She replied, drawing out a circle of salt onto the table. "I have no other choice. I have to keep working."

"If the girl helped, would you step down?" He asked quickly.

"Yes, but Elijah would never agree to it." Freya sighed. "He went berserk earlier when Evangeline brought it up."

"Let me talk to our brother. Maybe I can get him to change his mind."

"Good luck." Freya smiled in appreciation. "And Klaus?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you for doing this for her."

"I'm doing it for you." He responded. "You're my sister. I care for your well being."

Freya chuckled as he left, seeing the look in his eyes as he did so. She was the only sibling that could read him like a book. As much as he wanted to hide it, his efforts were to keep Evangeline safe as well.

As Klaus approached Elijah, who was looking angrily out the window of the study, his brother turned around and met his intense gaze.

"I know why you're here, Niklaus, and my answer is no."

"Elijah, please just take a moment to think about the situation at hand. You care for the girl, don't you? Isn't it better to let her help and keep her safe than to risk everything and face the chance that this could all go to hell? Marcel already knows she's with us, so the news isn't going to surprise him. Having a risky barrier could be the factor that brings our family's downfall. Can you handle that?"

"Niklaus, I'm going to tell you exactly what I told Evangeline. We are not arguing about this. I've made up my mind."

"Elijah, you can't possibly think this is the best solution, do you-"

"Nik! Elijah!" Rebekah called frantically from the other room. "They're here!"

Elijah and Klaus exchanged worries glances before joining their siblings in the front of the house. Together, they watched hundreds of vampires, all lining up around the property line, with Marcel leading the pack. To his left, stood a young girl that looked about Evangeline's age, with long white hair and icy blue eyes.

"We're screwed." Kol gasped out, his eyes widening in fear.

"We're never going to be able to fend them off with a shaky barrier against his powerful witch." Rebekah exclaimed. "You all heard Evangeline earlier. The girl will be able to take down the spell easily."

"Elijah, this is our last chance." Kol pushed. "Please reconsider your decision."

"We can fight this without Evangeline." Elijah claimed.

"Mikaelsons! Come out and face us!" Marcel called loudly, gaining the attention of the originals.

"I guess it's now or never." Rebekah sighed, following her siblings as they filed out onto the front porch, revealing themselves to Marcel.

"Long time no see, Marcellus." Klaus chuckled. "How has your child's play been?"

"It would go a lot better if you gave me what I want."

"And that would be?" Elijah questioned.

"Evangeline." Marcel replied. "Hand her over."

"I'm terribly sorry, I don't quite know who you are talking about."

"Cut the crap, Elijah. I know she's here. My guys saw her with Kol. Therefore, my proposal is simple. If you hand her over without a fight, we will leave, and your family is welcome to as well. You all can live your life outside of New Orleans and I promise I won't track you down. If you fight, well, let's just say that won't end well for you."

"You should know better than to expect a backdown from my family." Elijah sneered. "I hope you said your goodbyes while you still had the chance, because you're never going to see her again."

"Then you leave me no choice." Marcel sighs, turning to the witch beside him. "Serena. Do your worst."

Serena grinned brightly, her eyes glimmering in the moonlight. "With pleasure."

The Mikaelsons watched in horror as the icy blue-eyed witch stepped up to the invisible barrier, beginning to take it down. The second she placed her hands against it, the barrier turned a pale yellow color, slowly retreating back against the lawn.

"Oh my god." Rebekah gasped. "Evangeline was right."

"Freya, do something." Elijah cut in.

"I can't." Freya cried out. "I used up the remainder of my magic casting the spell. I'm too weak to do another one."

"Elijah, we need to let Evangeline intervene." Rebekah begged, watching the barrier inch closer to where they all stood on the porch. "If Freya's spell falls, it's over. There is no way we are going to win this fight."

"No." Elijah growled deeply. "I refuse to put Evangeline in harm's way."

"Elijah, please." Freya stepped up beside her brother. "I love Evangeline just as much as you do, but she is safer behind a strong barrier than one that is collapsing in on itself."

"I said no."

"Brother, think about what you're doing." Klaus whispered to Elijah. "If you truly love Evangeline and your child, you will do the right thing."

"I'm sorry, Niklaus, but I can't risk it-" Elijah trailed off the moment the encroaching barrier suddenly shot back out, advancing back towards Marcel and his men.

The Mikaelsons watched a golden light beamed across the lawn, Evangeline stepping out onto the porch beside them. Her hands raised high above her head, casting the barrier up over the yard, and securing their safety once again. As everyone stood in silence for a moment, Evangeline slowly met Marcel's gaze. She watched him take a survey over her body, his eyes widening at her very noticeable baby bump. As she stood in front of the original family, she watched in pleasure as Serena reached out and touched the barrier, screaming out in pain the second it burned her hand. Marcel almost seemed as if he chuckled at the icy witch's reaction, before returning his attention to the young vampire standing proudly in front of the Mikaelsons.

"Hello, Evangeline." Marcel grinned. "Time to come home."
