It had been a month since Evangeline had first come to the Mikaelson home. Today, she was seated at the kitchen table, sipping from a small glass of blood. In the chair to her left sat Kol, Rebekah to her right. Standing at the counter was Freya and Elijah, Niklaus sitting alone in the living room. It was a peaceful morning. The windows were open and the birds were chirping happily as the sun cast warm rays across the sky. The Mikaelsons had all joined for a family breakfast, which mostly consisted of Rebekah attempting to making a meal for everyone. When the majority complained about the disgusting taste of human food, she ended up baking blood into the pancakes.
Evangeline was finishing up the last few bites from her meal when Kol reached over and stole one of the pieces.
"Hey!" She growled as he popped it into his mouth.
"Whoops." Kol laughed sending her a cheshire grin.
"Didn't Mother ever teach you to not eat other people's food?" Freya scolded Kol from where she stood at the counter next to Elijah. "It's not polite."
"Mother didn't teach us squat." Rebekah snorted, watching as Niklaus suddenly entered the kitchen, stealing a pancake off the stove and standing beside Elijah. "Except maybe that we should aim to be completely opposite of her and Father."
Freya opened her mouth to respond when a hard knock came at the door.
"I've got it!" Kol grinned, bounding off down the hall.
In a matter of seconds, a little girl came running into the kitchen. All heads turned towards Niklaus who immediately bent down and opened up his arms for her to race right into. She wrapped her tiny arms around his neck and he balanced her on his hip, standing back up. As the little girl pulled away from the death grip she held on his neck, a large grin lit up her face.
"How's my little girl today?" Niklaus asked, placing a sweet kiss on the girl's forehead.
"I'm doing great, Dad. I missed you, though."
"I missed you too."
Evangeline watched them closely, instantly knowing who the little girl was.
Hope.
It was refreshing to see Niklaus so calm and dare she say, fatherly. Evangeline watched as he chatted happily with his little girl, and she was so engrossed that she almost didn't even notice another person walk into the room with Kol.
