To say things were awkward was an understatement. Evangeline couldn't believe it. As she passed Elijah in the hall on her way downstairs, he gave her a curt nod before continuing on his way. She stood confused for a moment, turning her head to the side so that she could watch him leave, a little shred of hope inside of her saying that maybe he would come back. But, she was let down. As she continued to head downstairs, she began to ponder why it bothered her so much. She kept telling herself not caring about him was for the better, but then why did she find herself with him constantly on her mind? It drove her insane.

"Good morning, Rebekah." Evangeline greeted as she entered the kitchen.

The blonde original grinning up at her from where she sat stood next to the countertop drinking a cup of coffee. She watched as Evangeline went into the cabinet to make herself some tea.

"How'd you sleep?" Rebekah asked, tilting her neck to the side and letting out a groan when she heard a loud pop. "I hope it was better than I did."

"Once I moved to my bed I slept pretty well." Evangeline replied, filling up a coffee cup with water and popping it in the microwave.  "Did you and Freya sleep on the couch the entire night?"

"We did." She nodded. "At the time I was too tired to care, now I'm regretting it."

"Is Freya still asleep?"

"Yeah. She's had a long couple of weeks. You can really tell how much stress she's been dealing with. She almost never sleeps past seven."

"She truly is amazing." Evangeline agreed, pulling her cup from the microwave and placing the tea bag over the side. "I will never be able to thank you all enough for going out of your way to keep me safe. I know Freya, especially, has done a great deal to keep me hidden from Marcel."

"We care about you, Evangeline." Rebekah responded, taking a sip from her cup. "Like I said yesterday, always and forever applies to you too now."

"And like I said yesterday, I'm not family. There's simply no need for that."

Rebekah rolled her eyes, but didn't answer. She simply gestured for Evangeline to sit down at the kitchen table with her. Evangeline grabbed her mug, sliding into the wooden seat next to the original. She slowly began sipping her tea when Rebekah spoke again.

"So tell me, is my big brother still being shady?"

Evangeline nearly choked on her tea. "Shady?"

"Is he talking to you at all, or does he seem like he's avoiding any interaction with you?"

"We saw each other in the hall this morning."

"And?"

"He gave me a nod of recognition."
