"Evangeline, open the damn door." Rebekah growled.

Evangeline sat up quickly, her eyes widening as she attempted to come up with a fast response. "I'm sorry, Rebekah, I just want to be alone right now."

"Do you think I care?" Rebekah scoffed, placing her hand against the door. "Now open up before I have to do it myself."

"Rebekah, please, I don't-"

Suddenly, the knob fell off the door and dropped onto the floor with a loud thud. Rebekah entered the room with a determined look on her face as Evangeline drew back onto the bed.

"Don't look so surprised, Evangeline. You know I would come in whether you liked it or not."

"What do you need, Rebekah?" Evangeline asked quietly, still not in the mood to speak to anyone.

"What the bloody hell happened on your trip with Elijah?"

"Nothing."

"So why did you both come home looking like you saw the devil?"

"Rebekah, nothing happened."

"You see, Evangeline, I don't quite believe you." Rebekah frowned, walking towards the bed where she sat.

"I'm telling you the truth."

"You and I both know you're not." Suddenly, Rebekah took a huge stride towards the bed before she leaned over and grasped the side of Evangeline's neck. "Now, what really happened between you and my brother?"

Evangeline's eyes glazed over before she could stop Rebekah from attempting to use her compulsion. The young vampire's eyes narrowed in on the blonde in front of her, and in seconds, she found herself speaking the words she swore she would never tell anyone.

"Elijah and I kissed. He said it was a mistake and that he couldn't be with me because of my mother."

Rebekah let Evangeline go, stepping back to process the newfound information. As Evangeline came back to, her mouth fell open in shock.

"Rebekah, why did you do that?!"

"I knew Elijah wasn't going to tell me, and I gave you the benefit of the doubt. But, when you failed, I took matters into my own hands." She sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed. "I'm sorry, Evangeline, but I want to help. Please, talk to me. Us girls need to stick together."

"I-I can't." Evangeline stood up from the bed and backed towards the door. "I can't talk to someone who won't respect me."

Evangeline suddenly turned on her heels and raced down the stairs, leaving Rebekah alone in the room. The original vampire let out a loud sigh and began to follow, quickly realizing as soon as she got downstairs, that Evangeline was gone.

"Evangeline!" Rebekah called, frantically searching every corner of the house. "Evangeline, I'm so sorry! Please don't run away from me!"

"Rebekah?"

She turned around and her face dulled when she saw Elijah standing in the hallway.

"Hello, brother..."

"What happened? Where's Evangeline?"

"Please don't be mad, Elijah-" Rebekah began to apologize, but he cut her off.

"Where's Evangeline?!" Elijah growled, walking up to his sister and staring her dead in the eyes. "Rebekah, what did you do?"

"You wouldn't talk to me, and neither would she, so I took Kol's advice and compelled her to tell me what happened between the two of you."

"You listened to Kol?!" Elijah snarled, his jaw clenching tightly. "Rebekah, how could you do this?! Evangeline will never trust you again!"

"Elijah, I'm so sorry! I was just trying to help her-"

"Where is she?" Elijah demanded, the skin under his eyes darkening as his veins became a prominent purple. "Where the hell is she, Rebekah?!"

"I don't know." Rebekah replied honestly. "I searched the entire house and she's not here. I think she went into the woods-"

"Damn it!"

Rebekah jumped when Elijah slammed his hand against the wall, making a large crack in the paint.

"What is going on?" Freya called, entering the room from the kitchen.

"Rebekah compelled Evangeline and she ran away." Elijah growled through clenched teeth.

"She left the house?" Freya asked, her eyes widening.

"Yes." Rebekah nodded. "But she could be anywhere by now. Can you use a locator spell?"

"I can try." Freya nodded. "Go get me something of hers and I'll get started."

In minutes, Rebekah returned with Evangeline's hairbrush, and Freya quickly started the spell.

"She's in the middle of the woods." Freya whispered, tightening her eyes as she concentrated on the details. "It's getting dark, but from what I can make out, there's a large clearing in the middle of a circle of trees."

"She went to where I usually train her." Elijah gasped, turning quickly and racing out the front door.

Elijah wove through the trees, his mind only on her. As he neared the clearing where the two of them usually trained, he heard a loud explosion. Pausing for a moment, he suddenly saw a large spark of light shoot up into the sky. For a moment he only had one thought: what if he wasn't the only one who saw? His instincts immediately took hold and he was at the edge of the clearing in seconds. Evangeline was in the very center curled up in a ball on the forest floor. Around her, a large tornado of leaves and debris swirled, and the trees began to sway in the breeze. A small fire had begun to form at the base of one of the large redwoods and Elijah's eyes widened as the bark burned, turning pitch black.

"Evangeline!" He called, but she didn't seem to hear him. The sounds around her were too strong.

Elijah gave up quickly on trying to capture her attention, and pushed his way through the tornado of leaves. When he reached the center of the clearing where she sat, he kneeled down and pulled her into his arms. Evangeline's head immediately shot up as he welcomed her into his warm embrace, and for a moment, she forgot about why she was upset. The leaves fell to the ground, no longer circulating through the air, and the fire at the base of the redwood dissipated.

"It's okay." Elijah whispered, as her cheek pressed against his chest. "Take a deep breath. It's okay."
