Wedding Rehearsal

Now is crunch time for the wedding. I showed him my choice of cake and he was very happy. One of my favorites is red velvet cake but it will be purple velvet for us. The baker made a sample cake and even decorated it in miniature for us to try. It was beautiful and tasted wonderful. He was very happy with my pick. Cathy has been working feverishly on my dress and his suit. I had to approve his suit as he was going over the top on it so we compromised. He is used an older design he wore for the NAACP awards but this one is grey with lavender paisley lapel and lavender satin shirt. He also had a traditional suit made so I can take my pick. I told him, he was not allowed to look prettier than me. He just roared with laughter and said, "Baby, I don't know how that is possible.You are the most beautiful to me." Aww, he's sweet. My dress is an antique design and an illusion veil attached to a comb trailing off the back. It does not cover my face so I'm happy with what Cathy has done with this design. She figured how to do the bone underskirt and made it so we can detach it after the ceremony and that leaves alight crinoline petticoat underskirt. She is a fantastic designer. It has a custom made corset. She handmade all this. I'll have a garter belt with garters and lavender hosiery attached. The shoes worked out fantastic for this dress. I had a hard time finding a appropriate pair, but found them in California. I have no idea what my flowers look like but he has a sample of the sash so he'll match the flowers to that. His boutonniere will be one single lavender rose. The wedding rings will be our symbol ring. We have taken them to the jeweler and the amethysts is being replaced with a large diamond. The diamonds represent our love and diamonds are 4ever. Both amethyst will be mounted as earrings for me to wear with my wedding dress along with the diamonds and pearls necklace and bracelet he gave me the first week I was in MPLS. So, all I need to come up with is a wedding hankie and it will get a lot of use I am sure. He enlisted his school friend minister, Randy Stevens to officiate. We did two pre-marriage counseling session with Reverend Randy. Sometimes I felt sorry for Rev. Randy. The two of them would get into the deep philosophical discussion on the different aspects of religion. Our sessions that were scheduled to be an hour would turn into three. Prince really like the basic fundamental of the Lutheran faith and felt Randy would be an excellent spiritual advisor for him at this stage in his life.

June 6-Rehearsal day

I wake up in his arms and he's awake.He says, "Good Morning,Love, are you excited for today." I said,"Good Morning, Sweetheart. Yes I am. One more day." We have rehearsal tonite and a dinner planned at a local banquet hall. Bonnie and Steve drove my car up and they will fly back. We have about 50people planned for the rehearsal and dinner. I have no idea whats on  the menu, I just know it will be served home style. I suspect it is  Italian. I get with Cathy and she puts the finishing touches on my  gown. I have the rehearsal dress and the wedding dress. She hands me a package to open. I open it and it is two handmade hankies. She used lace from the dress and gave the center plenty of material. I had one I purchased but it really was not as pretty but it worked. I was happy with the one she made for me. I gave her my gift.  A pair of earrings with a necklace to wear that matches her dress. We had a great day.   I had to pick out his suit for the wedding and the other one he is wearing tonite. I told Cathy, let him pick which one he wants to wear. I love them both. He was scarce and I hardly saw him all day. Bonnie & Steve came over for lunch in the Little Kitchen and I showed them around. They were in awe. The crew was in the process of setting up for the wedding. I guess he will meet them later. We caught up visiting. They went back over to the hotel to have a little time to relax and change for the rehearsal. I went and checked and the smaller space was set up for the wedding, just needing final touches like the flowers and isle runner. It looked really nice. It will be ready for rehearsal. All the chairs were setup with lavender covers on them. I head up to the apartment and just relax for awhile. I have time to check my short list. Everything marked off and done. All I have to do is show up. Kim and Jackie were coming at 5:00 to do my hair. I know they are excited. I took a shower and got a short nap in. I was awakened by soft kisses on my face. There he is,my love. I wake up and say, "I missed you, Sweetheart." He said he missed me too. He showed me which suit he picked for this evening and it was the more traditional suit.
