*SPOILERS* FT ch 538/539. At the end of chapter.
Ok, so this is a rant about Wattpad. I mean, I love Wattpad and all but sometimes it, and some of the writers, just annoy me.
-No Spell Check
Bothers me so much, because if they had spell check, there wouldn't be so many stupid little mistakes (along with big ones).
If Wattpad had spell check, little mistakes like capitals for names and places would be fixed. Capital Is and apostrophes (these things: ' ' [Because even apostrophes doesn't look right, and I can't check it]) would be automatic. Because fuck knows how many times I had to go back to fix one that I thought I had done.
I am so tired of checking and rechecking my words just in case I didn't get it right. And then to publish it and see something that I didn't fix. (Case in point. I hadn't realised I forgot an ending bracket in chapter 1. I have since fixed that.)
It red-underlines them, sure, but right clicking (Easier to say that. I'm used to a computer. Sorry) doesn't give you a replacement word, unless you've written this word hundreds of times already. It's basically pointless. And then the red line disappears. I mean, come on!
Just... Is it really that hard to add that into the programming? (Ice says no. She is halfway through a degree in techy stuff.)
It is hard to read stories with shitty spelling. If you can't understand it, it is hard to get what the author is trying to say in the story. And if you're a spelling/grammer Nazi like me, it makes it hard to enjoy the book if you flinch 5+ times every chapter.
If every second word is spelt wrong, well, you have a lazy and/or stupid author. But even a story with just a few repeating spelling mistakes is frustrating.
One of the most annoying mistakes in a story I read was it kept having 'though' as 'tough'. As in, "Even tough it wasn't what she had said." Every time I saw it, I cringed. That was the only spelling mistake in the whole book. But it just kept repeating. They used 'tough' so many times...-Sidenote On The Spelling
If you are a big fan of Fairy Tail, and they are your OTPs, and you've watched it forever, and love the show, and all your fanfics are about them, and you have a guild mark tattoo (Well done! What colour? [I bought a Jeep]), and have all of the pillows and jackets and shirts, and have a stuffed Happy/Plue/Carla/Lily, and you know so many quotes from it, and (you get the picture)...
STOP SPELLING IT FAIRY TALE!!!!! For fuck's sake! If you're that big of a fan, learn HOW TO SPELL IT!!!! It's Tail, not Tale!
God, do you have to resee the scene in the PhantomLord arc where Gramps explains it to Natsu again? Jesus. The whole thing is 'Do fairies have TAILs!' And it is a play on the word tale, yes, but it can't be a play if it's spelt exactly the same! Then it's just copying.
It is FAIRY TAIL!!!!
So many times I have seen this, and it ANNOYS THE FUCK OUTTA ME! And they don't even notice. AAARRRGGGHHH!
(Does anyone know that Jeep reference? It is Australian, so I'll forgive you if you don't, but a point to your house if you know.)-Writer Things
Just some stupid plot holes/things that I've noticed in some fanfics.
FP is Female Protag. MP is Male Protag. They are shipped. Sorry if it is kinda confusing, but didn't really want to use an actual fandom ship because you might not know them, and might get confused (or jealous that it isn't your OTP, but we'll just leave that there...) It could be any fandom/fanfic.
The class is on a field trip. Teacher says "There's not as many rooms for the boys as girls." So MP and FP get put together in the same room. A) MP's best (guy) friend and FP's best (girl) friend (who are shipped as well) also get put in the same room... If there's 2 guys and 2 girls, shouldn't they be together? Or B) They coincidently have to share the only room with a double bed. I seriously doubt the teachers would ever do something like that. (As anyone who's ever gone on a school camp knows.) I mean, I know the authors do it for ships to get going, but still, try to make it believable.
MP gets injured. As FP wonders how badly MP is hurt, and how it happened, a nurse comes in, literally only saying "Yes, he will be fine." then walks out. Surely, MP just could've said "I'm fine" instead of intro'ing a character for two seconds. It would end up the same.
As MP goes to his house, he sees the car with his father driving off with suitcases. Thinking nothing of it, he goes inside. Later, he goes out for something and comes back to find the door locked. Not having any keys, he rings his dad to get him to open the door, to find out that his dad is away in another city for work or something. So how did MP get in the house in the first place if his dad had already gone? And how did MP lock the door when he left?
FP finally decides to tell MP how she feels about him, after loving him from a distance for years. He rejects her. Cue: crying, sobbing mess, and end of chapter. Literally the very next chapter, she is over MP and out on a date with someone else. For someone you've been in love with for years, you sure got over that quick.
FP and MP are finally dating. Then they break up. Then start dating again. Then break up. Then date. This is basically the plot of a book that goes for 70+ chapters (ongoing). It is getting a little bit tiring. Just make up your mind!
